Her family are okay daver6, no in law thaws here. The wine was basic.

Penfolds 2009 Bin 28 went down well with our roast turkey today.

Actually, had these between 5 today. Seafood coughtails (lobster, bugs and prawns with my homemade sauce), turkey roast dinner, and my home made boiled Christmas pudding. Ham on toast for dinner after that lot.

Correct. That's what I paid per bottle yesterday. I'm usually not a fan of young Cabernet, but this was just so approachable. Will be hard to keep my hands off it and let it age.

thanks for the tip - will hopefully visit on Dec 27 and try it!
 
The standout for us, kindly provided by PJM's son, was the 2008 Cape Grace (small high-end Margaret River producer) cabernet sauvignon that he had socked away for a while. Hit the f* awesome point on the JohnM Highly Technical Wine Evaluation Scale[SUP]TM[/SUP].
