Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

For mains (with cold cuts and fresh baked bread rolls) was the piece de resistance. The decanter certainly opened the nose and gave it body all the way to the neck. Damn we took a long time saviouring every glass.

Alas. Whilst serious negotiations are taking place, I fear I'm losing the battle. Will have to wait until next time :(

Unctuous. There's a word not used enough. From it, I could almost taste and experience the wine you were describing. :)
Agreee, I think many wine descriptors can be a bit wanky but this is a descriptor that in my mind matches perfectly (as if does for some old PX's).

We attended a lovely party today.. where the wine selection was amazing (4 different bubble choices alone - I drank the Vintage Chandon) and the food fantastic... really appreciated the generosity and warmth of the host who catered for about 50 people without assistance and made us take something home as well!! Such kindness :)

Alas, I'm now back home without having the HoG or St Henri :(. Thanks to all who wanted to share them, my host was surprised that people would want to travel from far & wide to share in his cellar ;)

I introduced Buzzard to Lalou Bize-Leroy (aka Domaine Leroy) last night.

It was perhaps a bad idea for the last bottle of the night as we were a bit far gone and may have upset the ladies. Also the wine was far too young... I wish I was buying her wines 40 years ago!!!

ahh well, baptism of fire, eh :p
