From the Emirates AKL lounge. I haven't had a Sauv Blanc for a while, but this Mt Difficulty is very nice. The Craggy Range Chardy is also a top notch wine for an airport lounge.

Relocated the wine fridge today to prevent any open for inspection visitors helping themselves and couldn't quite fit everything back in, so decided we'd drink this one tonight. Disgorged 2014.

Have truly enjoyed the afters with this one.


What can I say about this one?
Full flavours of ground spice with almonds and fig. Well rounded finish. Lingering beeswax and slight wood blended with the kick of 40% alcohol.
I have found it a real challenge to describe something that is so obviously dominated by alcohol.

Will need another o'seas jaunt to replenish.

Blackcat - would love to know your thoughts on this one and maybe how this compares with Ashton Hills or any other sparkling reds you might have tried. Ashton Hills considered to be right up there amognst the better one in Oz. Also like the Leasignham Classic Clare but expect this would be a step up from that.

Caught the "thing" from puppysparks ourselves tonight! Sunday night Pinot series: nice CO, not too sweet, strong tannins, whole bunch feel.

Ashton Hills considered to be right up there amognst the better one in Oz. Also like the Leasignham Classic Clare but expect this would be a step up from that.

I haven't really found any other sparkling Shiraz to my taste but I really enjoy this one. Not too dry but not sweet. Lightly sparkling and a pleasure to drink on a warm evening.

Dinner last night at Bistro C in Noosa. Leeuwin Art Series Riesling 2014 very good with some oysters and Korean style crispy pork. Recommended is the main course local fresh seafood spaghetti. This offering prove to be a satisfying accompaniment.

A newie to me. In the QF SYD F lounge today. Tried it with some cheese after the mandatory pre-departure salt & pepper squid and Taittinger.

It was OK - lighter in texture and shorter on the palate than I intrinsically expected.







Probably should have gone with the Stonewell Shiraz but I can't resist trying new things.

I guess I can make up any shortfalls over the upcoming 15.5h in F to DFW...

Glad to hear they still have the Stonewell, any decanter special? They had the John Riddoch few weeks ago. If I score it on my visit I'll probably won't make it to the flight

Yes please
