To coin a phrase "Bewdy Newk" for those that have been around long enough to remember those ads for Cinzano.

See you in the F Lounge!

As I said to markis10 tonight, I don't know what I'd do without this thread and the knowledge I have gleaned from it.

Scored a BNE/ADL on 12/6 for 24K points + $102.05; then ADL/MEL/BNE on 13/6 for 24K points + $297.64

So 150 SC's (and DSC :D) + $400 - nice, as the red e-deal fare on my BNE/ADL flight was almost that cost. Half way to Gold re-qual in 3 sectors, very nice ;)

Interesting with these fares. i don't think the FF people know quite as much as they should. I had JASA Business seats booked for today MEL SYD AYRES ROCK and rang up Monday to defer the dates. Initially told 5,000 points per ticket ( 4), asked politely if they could check etc...ended up tickets transferred to the 19th June or could have been deferred up to 12 months. Only extra cost was $ 17 per ticket for taxes......ANOTHER benefirt for JASA seats...minimal impact if you need to cancel or defer. She said I could have had a full refund of points and taxes if I had cancelled. I also wondered whether they could be shifted to another date that required a much higher point cost ??? possibly not ??

Yes, it's been around for a while. I've had a similar message several times - but, from memory, not always with the same introduction.

I got one today as well having just booked a MEL-LAX-JFK return JASA for next year.

Hi All,

I received the double status credits offer (according to the email, because I was nearing Silver - needed 90) and found plenty of helpful posts around here on how to cheaply grab some SCs.

I've ended up booking my first YASA: SYD/xBNE/TSV then TSV/xBNE/SYD. Worked out at 25,555 points + $88 and should net 100SCs.

The only thing I'm worried about is the 40 minute gap between when the flight is scheduled to arrive at TSV and the return flight departs! Hopefully it's the same service:

That must be a YASA (Y-Economy) not a JASA at that price point. JASA on that route is more like 48000 points + $250

You are absolutely correct. I have fixed the post... which means it probably shouldn't be here at all

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

You still get your 100SC, which is what you wanted, so well done.

Townsville airport is not exactly huge, so I am sure 45 minutes should be more than enough time to make your return flight....

Will it be the same plane doing the return flight?

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Dunno - only flown there once... but I guess so - 45 minutes for a turn-around sounds about right so me, but I could be wrong. Does it matter?

Only QF J service into TSV is ex BNE and its the same plane going back.

Hi

I have a business trip from Sydney to Cairns coming in August, wondering what the best value JASA option (s) and routing would be? I don't want to go overboard and spend 12 hours traveling, but JASA might be a good option as I would probably use points to upgrade at least one of the legs anyway, and a few extra SC's towards retaining WP wont go astray. Basically looking for minimum points spend on a useful SC earn.

thanks in advance.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Is it standard for a one way JASA to be more expensive than a return option? I.e. I can see a cheap ticket when I look at a return flight, but if I look only one way it disappears.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

It completely varies on many parameters, including origin of booking.

e.g. A JASA MEL-LAX at it's current cheapest cost 96K QFF points and AU$571.45, however ALX-MEL is 96K and somhing like USD600.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

hi Serfty,

thanks for the reply. i think i should've been a bit clearer. Using SYD-DFW as an example if i search a SYD-DFW return i can see a DFW-SYD leg for 156k points. however if i search only the one way leg DFW-SYD it shows the flight at 951k points. even if you bring it back to min. required it's still significantly different.

is this wrapped into the fact that one way legs always come out at an amount always higher than 50% of a return flight perhaps? would calling and getting an assisted booking perhaps work in this case?

There is a bug in the booking system, best to call or book two OWs

It could be booking class.

For the 156K points there is likely U class availability (i.e. Classic award bucket - see thread title) but possibly not for the 951k points.

See here on how to ascertain booking class: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/qf-booking-class-22124.html#post307759 when making a booking.

If you check the availability for the return, is there any U class?
