re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

It could be booking class.

For the 156K points there is likely U class availability (i.e. Classic award bucket - see thread title) but possibly not for the 951k points.

See here on how to ascertain booking class: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/qf-booking-class-22124.html#post307759 when making a booking.

If you check the availability for the return, is there any U class?

100% correct - the 1m+ plus is D class ('business'), the 950k is I class ('business sale'), and yes the 150k is U class ('business' - but with a hurry < 5 seats). There is classic availability also.

and i've learnt something new - thanks serfty.

now to understand why they'll offer a U class on a return flight but not on a one way...

booked my first JASA BNE>PER return $269 plus 73000 flying A332 and A333 respectively, will get a 160 SC return with 11220 FF points as a WP, without this thread I would have never booked in this fashion, so cudos to the author

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Hello All,

I am a fng here so be nice :-)

Just wondering, can the Jasa be used at all with flights already booked? In other words is it possible to upgrade for a cheaper rate using that or the current Business class fare special that is on?

I have several Bne-Per flights already booked up until the end of the year, is there anyway to upgrade at a cheaper rate?

Thanks.

Your best bet would be to make a new JASA booking from scratch to replace one of your existing bookings. Once this is successful call up QF & have them put the old fare into a credit shell which can be used for future travel on the QF network.

Make sure you diarise when the credit shell will expire & note than there is a change fee & service fee applicable when you do the rebooking down the track.

A JASA cannot be used to upgrade existing economy bookings to Business Class nor make paid J fares any cheaper.

Okay, thanks for the prompt reply. I just had a look at all of my tickets and they are flexi saver, are these changeable or can they be added to this "shell" do you know?

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

It was only a little while ago I was looking at 2 x FASA SYD-LHR at classic points level plus $3000 taxes in Feb/Mar. I should have snapped them up but wasn't sure if I could get the time off (and I was wondering about the points refund scenario). Now they have gone. Moral of my story - you snooze you lose!
Well I have finally found something available and what suited but today booked the following in Mar/Apr

21 Mar SYD-SIN JASA QF5
25 Mar SIN-LHR FASA QF1
29 Apr LHR-SYD FASA QF2

Got 2 seats on all flights for 378,000 + $1691 each. Not the greatest value as compared to a F around the world but should be good fun, plus I will earn 720SC and 61,789 points

Now I just have to work out how to change my JASA on QF5 to a FASA on QF1 as has been reported somewhere on here. Unfortunately there were no J/FASA on QF1 anywhere around these dates and there is no F on QF5 as far as I can tell. We won't get the tasting menu out of Sydney but had that last year on the SYD-LAX. My big questions is do they serve the Tattinger Comtes de Champagne on the the SIN-LHR and LHR-SIN-SYD legs?

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Booked at JASA for myself and mrs nanks85. ADL-SYD for 48000 points plus $226 cash. Thought that was bad for two people. I have a question though. My booking says U class. Is anyone able to tell me about what U class means. Trying to learn about the class/bucket fare meanings on here. I'm a nothing bronze and always will be. But it's nice to be flying up the front of the plane for a once off treat. I'm flying E class on the way home which i know is discount economy.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Thanking you very much. :) I was expecting to see Class J instead of U when i checked my booking. I knew Class J is business, with everyone using the term JASA on here. All makes sense now.

Now I just have to work out how to change my JASA on QF5 to a FASA on QF1 as has been reported somewhere on here.

Could you please clarify for me what you mean here? Are you referring to this: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-program/jasa-cash-upgrade-to-fasa-28716.html ?

My big questions is do they serve the Tattinger Comtes de Champagne on the the SIN-LHR and LHR-SIN-SYD legs?

Now that is an important question :D I'm no expert, but I believe Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is the standard drop on all QF F flights.

In my recent experience on LHR-MEL and MEL-LAX, sadly the TCC has lasted only for pre-departure and pre-meal service. After that, it has reverted to Billecart! Not quite in the same league. :)

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Exactly. Although we are on QF5 (no F) so will need to get on QF1 as well. So unlikely but will keep my eyes open.

Thanks for clarifying - will have to keep that in mind for the future, I wasn't aware of it.

I originally booked a YASA SYD-xBNE-TSV-xBNE-SYD which netted 100 SCs (double SCs offer) which I flew a couple of weeks ago to reach PS.

Since then I've had a number of short domestic flights (all Y) to the point where I am 250 SCs short of SG, which this forum has made me think is worth chasing!

Long story short I've booked my first JASA SYD-xBNE-TSV and a red e-deal return for 250 SCs (double offer).

I only had 24,000 points so just scraped in plus $375 approx.

Thanks for all the pointers AFF!

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

If anyone can help point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. Have followed this thread with great interest for when I return to Oz next Feb. however in the meantime I'm looking at booking an JASA for our move back home (YVR-MEL) but it appears that the required points total is 801K! Is this because:

1. The lesser points required fares are gone? I've tried searching many dates around Feb.
2. Does it make a difference if I try to multi-city it?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help. The knowledge shared on this site has helped me achieve WP for the first time last year and i'm hoping to keep it!!

I'd say it's because there's no "U" class availability but you can check this first on www.expertflyer.com then when you find a day there's "U" class seats go back to the QF website & do the JASA availability search again.

BTW are you looking at YVR/MEL availability or LAX/MEL? Sometimes it may be cheaper to just purchase a ticket YVR/LAX & do the JASA separately as some mixed carrier routings can give you ridiculously high levels.

If you subscribe to the full Expert Flyer membership for approx USD99.00 per year you can put in a 'flight alert' for a specific flight/date/class where E/F will email you & advise you if/when "U" class seats become available. I have this & it's like having a fairy godmother at the airline of your choice checking for award seats on your behalf 24/7.
