Oneworld emerald on Jetstar

Isn't that one of the main reason sites like this one exists ;)

I think this site exists to help people extract the maximum benefit for minimum "pain" and not help people get something to which they are not entitled...

Thats what I thought . Sites like this and many others are here as a aid to get the most out of your dollar when travelling. It shouldn't make a difference if I paid $9 or $90 I was lead to believe JQ was a oneworld partner or marketed as such until I read further into it and asked. If they do allow me into the lounge I will be getting my $9 worth that's for sure.

You have still not answered my question, does it say in writing on the QF site that JQ is a oneworld partner?

No . What I'm suggesting is that it leads you to believe they are with oneworld and the evidence is there as other members have pointed out.

I can't see any difference between someone driving around to every Woolworths store in SA buying cat food & taco sauce collecting EDR/QF or the person who throws a few million dollars per qty on the CC to pay their ATO obligations.

In both of these circumstances people are achieving elite status therefore, gaining access to top tier lounges without flying very much at all:cool:

I'm all for it, including this member that seems to have J* price match and maybe, just maybe, gain access to the lounge - icing on the cake, me thinks:cool:

I re-call many a post where other members have had J* price match Tiger and then enjoy a good few hours lapping up the hospitality of the Flounge;)

It's all the same in my book:!:

If you earn the status the hard way (like me) or are quicker on the ground & take advantage of the programs various offers - good luck to you.

Secondly, the QF website showing the airline partners groups Jetstar with QF and Qlink in the top row, followed by various rows of the Oneworld airlines, then right down the bottom are the non-Oneworld ptrs. That certainly intimates that Jetstar is a very closely related airline.

Jetstar *is* a very closely related airline to Qantas, but it is quite a leap from being seen as a partner to being seen as a oneWorld member. The oneWorld airlines are all tagged as such on the partners page. Jetstar is not tagged as one.

A highly subjective view I believe.

In its simplist form, this (excellent) site exists to help educate those who wish to maximise their outcomes after doing the due amount of 'study'.

I wouldnt introduce the notion of 'entitelment'....that has been known to start wars you know!!

I have no issue with people working the system and I think that is what this site facilitates. What I don't think this site facilitates is people getting something to which they clearly have no right - the OP doesn't have lounge access based on his ticket conditions and elite status. I don't think this site facilitates getting lounge access in those circumstances.

Good luck passing off "something I read on an internet forum" as evidence.

Again - I have pointed out the QFF partner page. All the Oneworld or affiliate airlines have clear mention of this, JQ have no mention of Oneworld what so ever.

Sorry, but I feel you are burying your head in the sand to ignore the clear evidence that has been posted contrary to your beliefs.

Can this thread be locked, it seems like there is nothing more of value to discuss - the OP has been given the answer many times....

..... All the Oneworld or affiliate airlines have clear mention of this......

If you read all the fine print, which noone does. At least grant the OP the recognition that the lay amongst us could be misled.

Amaroo, I agree with you there. Going hard on legit technicalities, techniques, etc, is fine. My main issue with Shanye is thatt he is trying to get something that breaches all rules. To me that is different.

Agree. Qantas don't do themselves any favours here by putting the oneworld and Jetstar logos right together at the bottom of all their webpages. It implies association. Other oneworld airlines (AA, BA, CX, JL, AY...) stick the oneworld logo at the top, or at least not near partner airlines! And as we all know, Qantas likes to promote Jetstar as being Qantas when it suits them.

It is not fineprint.

As an aside, is there a oneworld logo on the JQ front page?

No - but way down the bottom it has the words: "Qantas Group Airline" which if you click on, takes you to qantas.com and there is the oneworld logo right beside the Jetstar logo again.

Maybe the next trick could be to start a 300 post thread on getting access to the Krisflyer Gold lounge in Singapore using UA (star alliance status) when flying Silkair.... as per the SQ website just like the QF website. :p

Ok firstly I've not checked the wording in detail on the website. But people here keep mentioning "Qantas marketed". A Jetstar flight purchased via the qantas booking engine is Qantas marketed, IMO.

However, (massive however) the OP seems to have a price matched fare. That MUST be purchased from Jetstar directly. Therefore, it is not a Qantas marketed flight. (full stop!)

Now the logos on the qantas website as per below. Certainly these imply association. But they only imply association with the common factor, which is Qantas because it is the qantas website. Qantas is associated with oneworld. Qantas is associated with Jetstar. This most definitely does not mean Oneworld is associated with Jetstar. Anyone who things otherwise definitely failed Modern Algebra in 3rd year at University (I think I got a pass conceded)

Simply put there is no grey area in the situation raised in this thread.

:p Yes!! (at least they try to separate the logos with a bit of a line, haha)

SQ also do themselves no favours over their SilkAir lounge access policy at Changi. I've seen many arguments at the lounge entrances over the years. I'm flying MI again soon in J and silkair.com says the lounge at Changi is "SilverKris" but other guides say it is "KrisFlyer Gold", unless you are also PPS. Ironically (perhaps) they used to send non PPS SilkAir J-class passengers over to the SATS Premier lounge which had a Star Gold logo on the door.

An intelligent person would look at that and see it's on the Qantas page and also put 2+2 together that the 2 images are links to QF partners of which OW is one and JQ is one. If they had a Hertz logo there too, would you be expecting extra benefits with Hertz?

*rolleyes* Thread over.
