Yes I purchased the QC but the point was to see what would happen after all I spent a month to get one world emerald. But I wouldn't recommend it as they can turn you away embarrassingly . IMO I got in on looks and a smile .

Was this the F or J Lounge ?

I would like those people who's comments are not helping to play elsewhere . In sydney it was The lounge situated on The corner I don't think it's The J lounge just The standard QP And in Melbourne it's The one you go up The escalators and turn left again The basic one .

So coming to Melbourne for a few nights in late jan I haven't booked it yet. I'm departing on the 28th mel - syd and I would like to experience the first class lounge. I am either going to book four Y tickets or 3 Y and 1 J ticket. If I select the one leaving from the international terminal will I get access to the first class lounge in Melbourne !

Lounge Location | Australia | Melbourne International | International First

yes you will. It is pretty much only the JQ service. As a OWE you will be able to have one guest with you. If you are travelling with young children check the policy (I know qantas Club lets you take them all in if under a certain age, I'm guessing the F lounge will have some sort of similar policy). No need to buy a one J ticket. The J ticket holder, unless they have bought the max fare, and unless they are a OWS, will not be entitled to a guest in their own right (and that would only be to the business lounge anyway).

Note that he is OWE via AA, not QF, so on a JQ flight may not get access.

If you are on JQ, no you won't get access. This has already been explained Shanye2233, OWE doesn't have status on JQ flights. You need to be a Qantas Platinum to access the F lounge.

There are no QF flights departing from the Int terminal in Mel to Syd.

I'm paying with points so I thought I should get the chance to sit where I always end up walking past on these domestic flights. So I'm in J and wife + kids in the back. Which flight do I need to jump on to gain access to the F lounge on the 28th jan I can't find any info on it

I am flying on QF . What about the next day ?

I was thinking the same thing...

Yes me three
No access based on status to the F Lounge if flying JQ except for QF WP and above
If you and your family would like to experience the MEL F lounge as a non- QF OWE you will need to book a QF or OW flight departing from the MEL int terminal
Edited Airport

Ok i see . So what I need to do is use the points book a QF flight down and then on the way back a jetstar flight In J for one pax that departs from the int terminal and then wife and kids can gain entry is that possible ?

We all know the rules, but I imagine it will not stop Shanye2233 from trying (i.e. he could just slip by), including the ensuing shouting match if refused entry.

The first class terminal lounge in T2 Melbourne. How do pax going mel - syd domestic get access ?

shanye2233, i don't think you understand what I am saying. So i'll explain it in point form..

There are no QF flights operating domestic MEL-SYD legs from the international terminal.
JQ flights will not get you access as you are not a Qantas Platinum.
You cannot book the QF codeshare flights (the same JQ flights). They must be part of an international leg.

So in short, you cannot get access. I don't know how many other ways I can explain it to you. Please note the bolding i have used.
