so,JQ keep the lounge at OOL(pray)
It would be a shame for it to go.It will be good comp for JQ if DJ move a lounge in,keep them both on their toes.
Mind you, entry prices need to stay down,or I believe it will just backfire on them both.

A lot of discussion on this thread has been over where they are going to put a lounge, now we can discuss where the 680SQM lounge will be!

I hope it has showers... it is most annoying that JQ locked theirs and removed the fittings. (Even BYO towel would have been better than nothing.)

The weather in Qld means that what I wear during the day on the coast, is not what I want to wear as I board an aircraft heading south of an evening!

Well, I was in the neighbourhood so I popped in to see what all the hubba was about. It was indeed a bit of a fizzer. Borghetti gave a quick speech about launching business class flights from here starting December, and about the new business class lounge opening early next year. He also said that the lounge was going to be located above Hungry Jacks "with spectacular views of the tarmac". Not sure how that will work. Then the minister waffled on for a bit and I wandered off. There was a new plane on the tarmac and they were all going to do a little tour of the new seats.

The only real surprise for me was how short Borghetti was!

Aha. So that's where it'll be... going back through posts to find the Hungry Jacks in a pic here somewhere..

I posted a pic of above hungry jacks a little while ago. I'll try and dig it up again.

Unless they modify the roof, this will defiantly not have views of the tarmac. It'll have a view of a poll and the curved roof.

That was my thought as well. Unless they build up there's not much of a view at all.

Also, it does sound very small. But Borghetti stressed that it was a "business class lounge", so maybe it will be restricted to just biz flyers and platinums..?

ETA: Looking at the article it actually sounds like a decent size if it can hold 140 passengers.

DJ 1D, I must have been standing right beside you during the press conference whilst waiting for boarding for my flight. He is a little fella isn't he. I was talking to a mate who works at the airport and he said they were going to go up through the existing roof to allow for the new glass frontage to over look the apron area. don't know anything about acces, etc at this stage but JB confirmed where it will be built and he did say opening early in the new year so I guess they will get cracking with construction pretty soon.

Knew it would have to be built above the shops. Cutting through the roof is a good idea.

I know he said Business Lounge but I think it will be the regular lounge as I doubt they will have a lounge open for only a maximum of 4 business pax per flight. It would be very empty and lonely for most of the day otherwise.

Bit disappointed with the delay in construction given that it was meant to open by the end of this year.

And this is one example of why l miss Crazy Dave! His little inside tips here and there.....boy-oh-boy l miss that guy!

Or more to the point for those that understand area measurment, 1/4 the size of the JQ one ;)

Wow, that much smaller. I guess there’s a lot of dead space in the JQ lounge though, with that movie theatre and kids area.

My mum is off to MEL tomorrow so I shall drop her off and have a look at where this is going. Not sure if I can be bothered with photos though :p

For 140 people......isn't BNE 200? Sounds good to me, given what we currently have............

I can't for the life of me see it being for J and Plats only, I think J may struggle out of OOL but I guess time (and price) will tell!

As for JB, small in stature, large in vision!

Sorry I missed you - We need AFF signs to wear when we are out and about at the airports! :p Interesting news about the extension UP.

I agree, no doubt my initial thoughts were incorrect. Will most certainly be a regular lounge for all Golds/members.

Absolutely agree!
