Race is on indeed. My guess is that it will be received by a Brisbane based member (I am guessing they are sent from head office)

And as for the experience of cracking open that box well one can only imagine for now

Its a very minor point, however I thought the sending out of the new cards should have been pushed back a few weeks, to allow for those to upgrade their status to Platinum that was not an option previously, I received a Gold pack last week as well, ironically just after re-qualifying Gold, yet the card was still showing the same review date.

I think, they are done in Victoria. When I received my Gold package, the stamp on it said it was posted from Victoria. The return address is also based in Vic.

They said that they can't guarantee the card will come in time and also made the point that if I have no card then I have no access to lounges. That sucks as far as I am concerned. This is the first time I have ever reached Gold status with anyone and now I can't use the main benefits. I will ring them on Monday and give them a polite earful. I also note on some threads that some people get temp gold cards....... how do they get them.

Head into one of the Virgin lounges at SYD, MEL or BNE and explain your situation. They have been issuing temp cards for the last two weeks, I'm sure they can work out something for you.

Just to put things in a little perspective the same rules apply for QF and OW lounges.

You can get into QPs without your card as they can look up your status if not shown on your BP but not the OS lounges.

Temp cards are only good for DOM DJ lounges, not any international lounges.

Yes unfortunately that is one of the flaws i discovered with Velocity.

Your boarding pass does not state the loyalty status, it just prints your FF number.

So there is no way of the staff knowing whether you are Gold or not.

And like me if you are travelling in Y or Y+ and not J class and if you are gold, you can't access to the international lounges unless you have that card.

In fact you cannot get access to any of the perks like extra luggage allowance, priority check-in, priority boarding, lounge access, priorty security, etc etc unless you're gold card is presented.
I hope they fix it by a. updating their computers to show PAX status or b. send our packs out faster.

ahh so they have upgraded the softwares then.

yep last trip i did, didn't print any status, just the FF number.

i guess if your status is printed, that should allowed you access to the lounges in australia, but i suspect with international lounges you still need your gold/platinum card.

I supect that flights booked previous to the status match may not print out the FF status correctly when doing Kiosk check-in. Certainly my experience.

According to the Velocity centre. Platinum welcome packages should arrive within two weeks from when Platinum appeared in your account.

Prize for the first person to post a picture of the Platinum membership pack?

Based on that, mine should be here this week.

Unfortunately, I only check my PO box once a week (as I moved a bit far away from it recently to check it every day). Here's hoping it's there by Tuesday (the day I check)!

Yep, second little box now (I'm sure I'd be able to Ebay a trick little unit like that)....and another two stainless wire ties bring my total to three so far, which, if my calculations are correct, puts me one more than you Liam (at least until your shiny platinum box comes through).

Hehehehe. I've only got one of those nice little gold boxes. But I've got 5 Gold bag tags and metal wire ties! 1 random one I was given during the VA relaunch months ago. 2 when I recieved a new Gold Package and 2 when I recieved a little temp welcome pack from Annette!
