Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Now were are heading somewhere people....
(Imagine QF losing their on-time performance spot?)

I can just imagine a bunch of WPs going on strike about Priority Boarding...

What's next? We get a bunch of signs and start chanting outside Joyce's house/office?

No, but waiting until the very last minute 'might' have a positive impact for us in the long term.
Seems like nothing is working and QF are just turning a blind eye on this matter.

If WP's board as late as possible and FA's report this to their managers, and it keeps going up the food chain, combined with late departures and QF losing their top spot, well, something positive might happen....I'm not saying we have to have placards and what-not, but if we are entitled to board T-15 minutes, lets do it.

Love the web site...

Very Cheeky,

I think it would be funny if we did the industrial action on a flight and waited until they had called all of our names a few times.

Make sure you have checked luggage though!

Otherwise they might just go without you:shock:

If they do you, you go up to the gate agent and pull as many DYKWIAs as (loudly) as possible.

I am travelling a bit next week so I will wait until everyone has boarded the flight and then just wonder on to the flight with only cary on luggage.

I will also make sure i have a window seat so it disrupts the entire row of people or even better a Exit row seat.

Looking at Oz Marks reply will make sure have checked luggage.

Will give you a bit more time to stretch it out.

Ohhh that's you. Wondering who it was.

They are very selective in who they actually reply to.

If you check my latest QFPlatinum Tweet, I will repeat that every day until I get an answer and they either implement Priority Boarding or remove the benefit from the web page. If they remove the benefit, I will then go them for not honouring their OW commitments to Emeralds and Sapphires.

Odd call at BNE this morning, "Oneworld Emerald etc etc are welcome to continue boarding!"

Did they say just that or was in part of the normal spiel eg "today we'll be boarding by row numbers & if you're seated in rows 13-29 you are now invited to board. Business customers, Platinum & Gold Frequent Flyers & One World Emerald & Sapphire members may continue to board?"

The decision makers at QF need to understand that the setup they have now is not true priority boarding like they have for international flights or what other One World carriers currently do. Surely part of the agreement when joining an alliance is that all the airlines have the same practices so travelling between carriers is a seamless experience so I would've thought QF should be doing this as part of the OW contractual agreement.

I can't seeing them have any additional ground staff (ie spending $$$) to police boarding queues so it would have to up to the Flight Attendants as is the case now, to monitor pax boarding via the priority queue & redirect anyone who shouldn't be there to the general boarding queue.

Good idea. I'll make a short video of DJ boarding and QF boarding and post it on YouTube.

Yes!

Post a video on youtube. Firstly of somebody using priority boarding on Virgin.

Then a video of somebody attempting to use priority boarding, firstly by asking the gate agent how to, then by pushing into the front of the line.

Maybe then QF will see that "Board anytime" does not equal Priority Boarding.

Just to be very clear:

Neither "Priority Boarding" nor "Boarding at Convenience" means entering the normal Pax boarding queue, just like priority check-in or priority security or priority immigration or priority customs means entering the normal queue. Add to that the Lounge benefits that are also part of the Priority curb to seat process. This is benefit to be enjoyed by Platinum, Gold, OW Emerald and OW Sapphire frequent flyers as part of the system delivered to these customers to make the process of getting from the curb and into their aircraft seat as quick and convenient as possible.

For some here to suggest the Priority process of getting from the curb and into your aircraft seat stops at the boarding queue is just not logical. It is QF that has dropped the ball here. Plain and simple. They know it and yet apparently refuse to do anything about it. Red Roo does read this forum but makes no comment as he apparently knows he will be caught between a rock and a hard place with no room to move.

So QF you know you have got this wrong, are NOT delivering a Priority pathway from curb to aircraft seat and are apparently trading on the good will of a lot of your loyal customers to make excuses for your non delivery of what is actually very simple to deliver.

So QF it is time to complete the Priority curb to sitting in the aircraft seat process for your Business, Platinums, Golds, OW Emeralds and OW Sapphire customers.

I should add that as long as QF show on their web site that Domestic Priority Boarding is a WP benefit, they have a legal obligation to deliver that service. In not delivering that service, they are in effect in default / in breech of their service obligations to provide this service. They may also be in default of their OW obligations to OW Emeralds and OW Sapphires.

While you've got the video camera out, why don't you video the Priority Checkin areas for both airlines & send to QF as a comparison?

I realise the issue here is WP's & priority boarding & also being WP you get access to QF Premium Checkin, however one group who seem to have been forgotten are QP Members who in the past always had access to Priority Checkin but have now lost that ability as have PS pax with the introduction of Next Gen checkin.

I think anybody should still have the ability to use 'normal checkin' as they do in the US & basically still give the passenger a choice.

Who can use DJ's Priority Checkin? Is it Velocity Gold, Silver, The Lounge Members plus PE & J pax?

I don't think The Lounge Members can access priority checkin, but Silver defiantly can.

DJ lounge members dont get priority checkin or screening, and I suspect Silver Velocity members will loose it when Plat is introduced but could be wrong.

With DJ policing and enforcing priority boarding with a cost base lower than QFs I dont see how QF can not do the same, especially with the improvements in terms of staff requirements being lowered by NGCI, I would hate to see that talent let go, QF staff leave JQ for dead in terms of quality which is why I detest the pro JQ flavor we are seeing from management. I know thats a generalised statement, and thats not having a go at JQ staffers or saying they are bad, it just seems QF have the cream overall.

To add to this, Qantas Club members had to fork out more cash to use the new "streamlined" check-in system (i.e. a NGCI tag).

I think we are all being very harsh to QF. Only in the last few days have they been tackling major issues raised here on this site. It is this proactive approach that makes me proud to join queues of pax so that I can board at my convenience. We can't expect them to sort everything out at once, things have to be prioritised. whistle.gif

Yes, it's a bit rich isn't it?

You can also share QTags with anyone as the tag doesn't exclusively belong to whom it's issued. A person could loan the loan tag to another family member, neighbour, colleague etc to use whenever they travel as the RFID chip inside the Qtag becomes the bag tag for whoever uses it on that particular day.

For example Jane Smith may be SG & is issued with 2 Gold Qtags. Jane may be flying SYD/ADL so after using Podium checkin she goes directly to the auto bag drop, scans her card again & sends off her suitcase. Her sister Mary Smith is flying SYD/PER & has done OLCI so Mary arrives at the airport & goes directly to the auto bag drop (with Jane's other Qtag on it), scans her OLCI boarding pass then sends off her suitcase.

The end result is both of Jane's Qtags are used that day but it's really a case of Jane Smith used a Qtag to ADL & Mary Smith used a Qtag to PER.

So in a nutshell you may not have to buy as many Qtags (if not eligible for free ones) if you have access to other peoples'.
