just been offered membership for $149.50 after not renewing a year ago, at that price its worth rejoining :D

Got the e-mail yesterday for $150, so thought I'd rejoin as well. Not sure how much use I'll get out of it now, but at half price I figure I'm not risking a whole lot.

Is there a promo code or link I could use. My membership has just expired and I wasnt going to rejoin. But at 150 I would.

Procedure for transferring 'transferable' certificate and how to book

Another question - when using the transferrable certs (ex. 25% off) do i need to make the booking via PP and put it in the person's name i am giving the transferrable cert. to or do they just book the BAR and present the coupon at the hotel for the discount?

cheers

Neither, the person with the cert needs to ring up and book by phone.

I have always been able to book via the priority privilege website for someone else. But by phone is probably easiest.

Re: Procedure for transferring 'transferable' certificate and how to book

Thanks markis and qf for the responses.

My preference is always via the website ..just easier for me but I could see how things could get jumbled up.

qf1020 -- are you using your account and putting the person's name you are handing the cert. to as an additional guest or are you using their IHG account to make the booking and alterring in the PP rate plan code?

You can book for them by using the reservation facility and not logging in at the details page, you don't need their account details as such, they can add it later with the reservation reference.

Re: Procedure for transferring 'transferable' certificate and how to book

Ahhh I see what you mean. You have them book the BAR; they make a note in the comments that they are going to use a PP voucher that has been given to them. On check-in they present the voucher and the hotel on site alters the rate when billing is settled ..is that right?

If they are doing to booking they need to ring, unless you give them your PP login details and they then enter their detail at the page after room selection etc. Booking BAR won't work either way.

Anyone keeping the last months PP newsletters? I know some of the old links are alive; just can't remember if this was the final one for Nov/Dec 2013; i have a stay in Parramatta and trying to figure out if bfast is included (which according to the link it is).

For the sake of my memory and ease of use the Jan/Feb listing is here

Wondering if it is okay for me to .PDF or put as jpeg on this site so we have a record or will the content police get in a tizzy?

My PP is up for renewal mid Jan.

So far I have been offered a $100 complementary dining experience, but the email says absolutely nothing of the T&Cs for that (quite possibly something like "spend two hundred dollars to get your $100 off). I could go chasing, but has anyone else been offered better? Is the general consensus that I'm likely to receive better offers the closer it comes to expiry (or even after expiry). I most likely will renew, but I prefer to pay less rather than more ;).

When you do renew, don't forget the starthere cash back.

Just with those '$100. off' dining vouchers ....

You can't use your regular PP discount card. It's one or the other only.

EG. four adults dining together at buffet costing $60. pp .....

Total cost = $240. less $100. for voucher. Actual cost = $140.

Using PP card = $240. less 25% = $180.

Thus, the actual benefit = $40. and not $100.

Good point Rick93 - I guess the best option is to not eat for 3 days and go nuts on the Member dine alone breakfast :o

I find myself working the extremes of math/logic/t's and c's everytime i think about the offers for PP, or walk up to the counter and pay ...particularly when you get a newbie at the paystation. At Warwick Farm on the weekend and the fella there says he always brings out his manual to refer haha

I've been a member of the Priority Privilege Club for 7 years but their written terms and conditions regarding their certificates and card are worthless. According to their spokesperson I telephoned today, the hotels can change the rules at their whim as they did with me at Holiday Inn at Potts Point, Sydney.

According to this hotel the $50 voucher was not able to be used for food charged to our room as we had already claimed the 50% discount with our card at the restaurant. Despite the fact we had done this for the past 7 years they told us they had changed their policy. The $50 voucher was not able to help pay for the $87 parking fee either so it was virtually a useless piece of paper.

Also despite the fact that the PP promise of a 50% discount on food consumed by 2 people at the hotel's restaurant, we were only given a 25% discount when we bought a pizza and a salad to share. This was because their new policy requires us to order 2 main meals. In 7 years of membership I had never been treated like this.

It seems if you are willing to argue the point for 30 minutes at the front desk in front of other guests you can get them to bend the rules slightly as they reluctantly honored the $50 voucher but refused to give me the 50% discount on the pizza and salad a saving for them of $5.75.

So much for being a Platinum Member of a club run by a billion dollar hotel chain. I'm sure the $5.75 was more important than a loyal member who has spent thousands of dollars with them over the past 7 years.

Oh and by the way, I was told that it was all my fault for not entering discussions with the hotel before I booked in to negotiate all the terms and conditions promised when I joined. Next time I'll bring along my lawyer and several witnesses.

I've written to Intercontinental thanking them for helping spoil our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebrations with their misleading promises and disloyal treatment. Be careful of their promises.
