Rookie question I know - but I assume the annual fee does not count towards the $3k spend/points trigger?

Unfortunately no this never occurs with any CC. But if you spend quickly and handle your cancellation procedure with any degree of smarts then you can get your annual fee refunded - I received a refund cheque for $249 in mail today after cancelling 12 days ago.

All points in QFF acc - card cancelled this morn - $249 ann fee refund by cheque in 7 to 10 working days - gotta love AMEX huh?

My convincing excuse was meet with, "we would normally refund the anual fee, but as you have a used a promotion and received your bonus points....not this time". Bugger.

Within what timeframe would you want to have hit the $3k/points in order to have a shot at a refund? I will get there within around two months...

Meet spend rqts ASAP and pay off what is owing - you can cancel b4 paying ann fee or after - just sooner the better.

Unlikely. I believe it is limited to spend with the Qantas Air Australia merchant. QF hotels or QF flights originating overseas have been confirmed to not count.

ANyone had problems AMEX QFF card points to QANTAS in the last 2 days.

My dad got this card and his Amex account says 86k points transferred on Monday and QFF account says NIL

Called Amex and they said they are the sender and the points have been sent to Qantas. Confirmed correct QFF number.

Called Qantas and they said they are the receiver.. Talk to Amex

My points came into my QFF account this morning. Prob best to be patient for a day or two before getting too concerned.

Got to the bottom of it.

Amex confirm a "computer" glitch on Monday affecting QFF transfers. Only affecting 18 April transfers to QFF. They are processing today.

My latest transfer of points took 6 days. Normally its overnight.

Still fighting with Amex. points should have posted by 19th and still not done. Now investigating further and trying to work out what went wrong. So very annoying as we are in a new statement period and I have 86k points still not posted from previous statement

My second month of points swept across to my QFF account on 21/4, and in the past couple of days I have hit my $3k spend target. I assume within a day or so the 75k points will show up on my Amex dashboard, but won't auto-sweep to my QFF account for possibly a few weeks?

I am keen to lock some flights in ASAP and really need the points. Is there any way we can request the points be credited sooner/immediately?

In my experience it only happens once a month on the same or similar date.

Ive made a request like this before. The answer was a clear no.

Suggest a points transfer from a family member. This is instant. You can pay them back when your points come in.

Called today, phone rep said she was happy to try doing it manually for us, but hit a roadblock with their system. Oh well!

I do have one possible family transfer option, but failing that I will just have to wait a few weeks
