from earloer posts seems FA "offered" but never came back about it.
If only there was a way that one could "request" the presence of a FA at almost any point during a flight........ 🤔

Jokes aside, I get that the the poster was not thrilled with the menu, but as has been mentioned already, it's pretty much going to be impossible to please all of the people all of the time. I'm certain that the crew would have done what they could to assist in providing something remotely suitable. Perfect? Clearly not. Acceptable? Probably. Honestly though, if you feel that badly about it, then take it up with QF directly by submitting feedback.

And in terms of the FA not coming back... again, not ideal and I'm certainly not suggesting it's a stellar customer experience. But who knows what happened to distract them from the task at hand? I'm sure a polite/gentle reminder could have easily helped deal with the situation.

No offense, but that's a you problem.

I mean, I don't mind. That there are people who immediately nope-out after reading "plants" and thinking "ewww, vegetables" means that it is less likely that I won't be able to choose that offering. But it doesn't make the argument any more valid.
What argument?

I was referring to how I missed the only non asian main.

FWIW, I have enough experince with Neil Perry "Inspired" "plant based" food to have decided to avoid revisiting - that is why nul.

That is, "plant" does not scare me but Neil Perry defiled "plant" is not something to be considered.

Given the Virgin side of AFF has had this style of thread for a while, and there are likely more than a few of us traveling in the front cabins of Qantas Domestic over the course of December/ January (for some reason), I thought it would be useful to create a thread dedicated to the meals for the foodies (of which there appear to be many) on this board.

My preference is that the thread is entirely (well mostly - most on this board don't listen) posts in the below format.

Format:

Date: [Month, Year]
Flight: QFxx_ YYY - ZZZ [times optional]
Service: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Refreshment [Per the flight details popup]
Meal: [Description] [Comments if you want]
[Photo - the important part!, including menu for Perth flights]
Alternatives: [Describe alternative choice if offered]
Wines: [Label and year where offered]

The equivalent Virgin thread is here:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-australia-business-class-catering-38257.html

There are already some Qantas meals shown here:

I will personally be adding to this thread before the new year.

Given the further reductions to Qantas Economy catering (eg. box meal), I don't think a similar thread is necessary for the (lack of) economy meals.
Qantas meals became inedible when Alan Joyce became in charge of catering. Any opportunity to cut costs by squeezing everything out of the traveler and passing it on to the shareholder, which Joyce is, was considered a success.

Well yes, the post you quoted was 11 years old, just a few years after Joyce became CEO.

This thread is much like a chronological documentary of QF catering's slow and steady decline.

I wonder how long those lovely meals will last before being downgraded? And if this quality can be catered on flights to Paris, why not on flights to LHR or USA?

Welcome aboard AFF @JIMMYTHEJET :)

If you plan doing another status run like that in the future, it's well worth considering a repositioning flight to OOL, then doing OOL>MEL>AKL. Will net you more SC for just a little extra, especially with a DSC trip.

Yes I have heard of that one like leaving bne .

I will retain for 25-26 without double status credits this year which is a first !

Travelling Quebec to Montreal by train for a change of scenery. A choice of 3 mains, a side salad and a side cake desert for lunch. Choice of wines and spirits. . Can we sponsor Neil Perry on to a similar journey and show him how it can be done.

Another example of domestic business class catering that puts Qantas to shame. (Intra Europe is basically domestic.) This was a 1hr 50 min flight from OSL to AMS. The meal is cold, but beautifully boxed for service. A diced sweet potato salad with a serve of walnuts, and two macarons for dessert. Two fresh bread rolls added. Plenty of decent wine as well.

The next flight from AMS to HAM was 1hr 5 mins and had the same presentation, but an Asian rice noodle and prawn salad, cashews and macarons. Great service, especially as the aircraft sat on the tarmac both ends due to a massive storm. At AMS, the Captain brought interested passengers up to view the coughpit. Great crew!

Sadly, Qantas does not serve champagne on domestic J flights. Unless you are on QF9 or QF10 for the domestic transcontinental leg. Added benefit if you can use the MEL F lounge for a further champagne tasting.
I will be doing qf33 it will leave from in t1 syd 😀
