Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Hey folks, my wife and I are flying in J on QF68 next week and have a dumb question which I'm struggling to find the answer for. My wife is a basic vegetarian (eats eggs) and I'm not sure if we should select one of the special meal options (vegan, veg hindu, strict indian veg all of which don't contain eggs) or if the onboard menu will have a vegetarian option?
QF68

Starters
Plant based dining - broccoli soup with smoked paprika and garlic croutons
Prawn and fine egg noodle salad with toasted cashews and spicy soy dressing

Main
Planet base dining - Paneer mysore curry, green peas tindli poriyal, keerai kuttu and coconut rice
Seared red snapper, rosemary roasted potatoes, glazed onions and peas with mustard sauce
Roasted chicken breast filled with ricotta and spinach, potato gratin, green beans and red wine jus
Lamb sagwala, mixed vegetable poriyal, rajma masala and zaafrani pulao

Dessert
Cheese and accompaniments
Bread and butter triffle with mascarpone cream and almond praline
Ice cream
Seasonal Fruits

Breakfast hot items (in addition to bakery/fruit etc to add)
Free range scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, potato rosti and roast tomato (you could ask for this without salmon to make vegetarian)
Buttermilk pancakes with strawberry compote, vanilla yoghurt and toasted almonds
Idiyappam with vegetable stew, masala uttapam, podi idli and tomato chutney

Like most others, I recommend ordering the special meal. On my last flight, there wasn’t an additional tomato soup from the inflight menu! If there is an interesting alternative on the menu, she can always ask if there if an extra serving left. But, as a coeliac who pre-orders, better safe than sorry!

Thanks all, she saw the plant based main meal milehighclub posted and she turned her nose up at it as it's the same thing we've been eating for the past 3 weeks 😂

We're also sitting in row 6 at this stage so would be a big gamble. We'll select a special meal, probably the veg Hindu option and hope the main meal isn't the same thing as described above 😂

I had the tomato soup the other day, surprisingly good (coming from someone who generally isn't a fan of tomato soup).

Sadly, Qantas does not serve champagne on domestic J flights. Unless you are on QF9 or QF10 for the domestic transcontinental leg. Added benefit if you can use the MEL F lounge for a further champagne tasting. 😀
Don't think they serve it on J NZ flights on 737's either.

My salmon salad back in March was good . I love the bread and butter always ask for extra life haha .
The koko black chocolate highly recommend
I had lots of drinks too.
I went on this trip to Auckland for our double status credits run .
We did Syd-Mel-akl

I love flying qantas my next trip is to Perth in August on the qf33
I will share the photos for those meals 😀
It's now a case of more biscuits than cheese, usually the other way around!

Can attest that Champagne (Jacquart) is still in the house on NZ 737 J, had it on Friday (and was duly served as a PDB). About the only vestige of the pre covid soft product though, the somewhat cynical single tray with no printed menus, no cheese platters and pedestrian still wines (would have expected a Central Otago Pinot on a CHC J flight!) that prevails on PER flights is the case on NZ flights also.
Looking forward to my EK 380 F debut tonight :)

Main meal was supper followed by a lighter breakfast before landing. I've attached the menus, but the food options for supper were:
  • Cauliflower soup
  • Lemon and garlic prawn linguine
  • Seared sea bream
  • Japanese beef curry
  • Japanese set menu with grilled chicken

I asked for some fruits instead of supper as I wanted to sleep. I think the Japanese Set Menu was the most popular amongst the people who ate.

Excellent service from the cabin manager, he brought my fruit out as soon as the seatbelt sign was off so that I could quickly eat and sleep.

For breakfast I had the bacon, tomato, pecorino and spinach frittata alongside a raspberry and banana energiser. The drink was great, but the fritatta was barely better than Qantas' economy breakfasts.

QF35 MEL - SIN 1/7, great crew, left ontime and was scheduled for early arrival, but quite a few circles out of SIN meant delay. Food was excellent, loved the Tommy's margarita and also had excellent snapper and scollops (some more greens on the plate would have been nice...)

Same with me- Jacqart offered as PDB on 0615 departure AKL-BNE . Tasted great and appreciated.

Can confirm they had it in both directions from Melbourne to Auckland over the weekend, as well.
Mebbe not enough of it, right enough, but they did have it.

Okay thanks, I though it was the Grant Burge on my SYD-AKL, I'll see on the way home next week.

QF93 MEL-LAX on 17/6/24. Full J cabin and could not really fault food or very attentive crew. For lunch had caprese salad followed by scallops and snapper (excellent, as note above). Dessert was hazelnut panna cotta (I think?) with apple jelly. Had a couple of glasses of The Lane Shiraz. For breakfast had the egg white omelette. Flight compared very favorably with Emirates (EK434) two weeks prior. The only place Emirates clearly won was with their new business class PJs. They are something else.
