Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On days like today (not so much on a Saturday if weather is 'normal'), slot availability would be among the secondary problems, and so might gate availability at each end. One return B744 trip would not clear all the waiting passengers - but it would help.
Well seems like yesterday QF459 SYD-MEL was operated by a 747 (VH-OEJ)

Certainly was: I was on it, in 1K...first time I have been on a 744 in a very long time, and frankly reminded me I haven't been missing much..
at least you didn't get OEB. I was unlucky to get it from HNL to SYD last September and oh dear, it was certainly not pleasant.

On Sunday 25 November, QF107 (1335 hours afternoon SYD - PEK) is expected to depart 45 late.

QF423, the 1000 hours midmorning SYD down to MEL pushed back at 1040, arriving 34 minutes behind schedule at 1209.

QF1594 (1255 hours from ADL up to BNE, B717 VH-YQX) took off at 1345 so arrival is expected at 1530 this afternoon, 40 late.

It was the case for quite some weeks after the major QF timetable changes reflecting the commencement of B789s that QF35 (now an A388) was punctual as it began to be formed by QF94. However Sunday 25 November is another day when that is not true, with 'the 35' departing 50 late at 1310. Arrival is predicted at 1751. 46 late for A388 VH-OQB.

Today Sunday the 25th of November has seen BNE-SYD QF1715 depart at 8 12am (67 min tardy), arrived to Sydney at 10 27am, 47 min late (VH-NXI).
The previously discussed VH-EBR which was late as QF117 yesterday, affected QF118 HKG-SYD which departed at 1 16am (101 min tardy), landed at 1 02pm (57 min late).
Also, QF762 PER-MEL service has diverted to Melbourne's Essendon airport (VH-VXS).

Why on earth would it divert to Essendon given how close Tulla is?

On Monday 26 November 2018, the redeye from NRT down to MEL (QF80 - A333 VH-QPI) is unusually delayed with arrival likely at about 1025 instead of 0800 hours, 20 145 minutes tardy. It did not take off last night until 2245 compared with the mandated pushback time of 1920.

QF29, the 0945 hours MEL - HKG is expected to depart at 1130 with arrival at 1735, 80 minutes late. QF80 and QF29 are showing different gate numbers on the QF website so not sure if that reflects one gate number not having been updated.

The 0955 hours midmorning QF880 (MEL - OOL, B738 VH-XZP) took off at 1031 so arrival at 1131, 31 late is predicted.

QF29 was formed by QF38 that arrived MEL one minute early at 1014 with A333 VH-QPC. It then took off from MEL at 1201 for HKG, so arroval has become an estimated 1818, 123 minutes tardy.

QF80 did not arrive in MEL until 1038 on Monday 26 November, later than suggested above.

QF470 MEL-SYD 10 15am service (VH-VYI) departed at 11 19am (64 late), landed at 12 26pm (46 behind schedule).

QF64 JNB-SYD left at 7 54pm (64 min late), expected to arrive around 4 22pm (47 late). VH-OJU is the rego.

Continuing today, QF838 MEL-DRW 8 30am service didn't depart until 10 01am, 91 behind and landed at 12 31pm, 71min tardy. This has further delayed QF839 DRW-MEL which left at 13 31(91 min late), expected to arrive in MEL at 18 53, 68 late. VH-XZJ is the rego.

Also on 26 November 2018, QF107, the 1335 hours SYD - PEK departed 66 minutes late. Arrival should be at 2306 tonight, 51 minutes tardy, so the redeye QF108 back down to SYD will be at a little delayed in pushing back. A332 VH-EBP is the aircraft: it has been doing the run every two days for the last six days.

QF35 (1220 hours MEL up to SIN) departed half an hour late with arrival predicted at 1750, 45 late.

The second for the day to HKG, QF117 is predicted to depart 55 late at 1645 with arrival in the SAR at about 2305, 50 late.

QF29 was formed by QF38 that arrived MEL one minute early at 1014 with A333 VH-QPC.
38 departed SIN late after 37 arrived late.
Gate boarding staff had to stop a rush for the aircraft between preboarding and J/Premium boarding.

812 departed MEL late due to a tech issue. Crew didn't say what the issue was, but from what I was able to make out from overhearing ground staff, it seemed that a number of seats had to be repaired.

Also on 26 November 2018,..QF35 (1220 hours MEL up to SIN) departed half an hour late with arrival predicted at 1750, 45 late...

QF35 did not arrive SIN until 1817, 72 late. QF36 is delayed from its usual 1940 hours ex SIN to 2020, a few minutes away as I write.

QF9 Per-Lhr badly delayed. 40 pax offloaded and ALL bags also offloaded due to forecast bad weather in London and the extra fuel required. Crew also out of hours.

The perils of the direct flight in winter starts......

Edit: Flight now been delayed for 25 hours. Leaving Tuesday night.
