so is it that all i need is a Woolworths rewards card and I go shopping and pay with my credit card, then I essentially get 'double' points??

Yes, you can get oints under both programs.

and also, I need to give the card to my other family members when they go shopping at woolworths etc. so is it possible to make duplicate cards,

No, one rewards card can be linked to one FF account.

(short of getting fred in the shed involved)

and a few have mentioned that you get points based on per day transaction, is this true?? it shouldn't make much of a difference for me, as I won't be going to woolworths twice in a day.....

It is per transaction.

There seems to have been a bug early that added the days totals, but has been corrected

also, a few have mentioned getting others to earn you points, so if you are getting it for family members, since you can do the annual transfer once per year, then isn't this all you need to do??

thanks for your time

Yes, but bear in mind that you have to have a minimum number of points to do family transfer.

One of ' the rules ' supposedly, is that you can't get QFF on Gift Card purchases, or tobacco products ....

I recall another of Woolies house rules, that goes, you can't buy a Gift Card using a credit card .....

But I did this, by spending $30. on shopping, and asking for a $100. Gift Card to be added onto the shopping account. Shopping and Gift Card were processed on an AMEX card. I got the 1.5 AMEX points per dollar.

So, I wonder if the same trick can be pulled off .....

Spend over $30. on shopping, plus buy a gift card for X $ ..... get QFF points from Woolies, plus your credit card provider ( assuming they offer QFF points ).

GORDO

I know that fual vouchers cannot be given from tobacco purchases, this is by law.
Point schemes probably fall into the same category.

If this is possible and I'm not saying that it is, would it not be better to buy a gift card at Woolworths for say $100, $500 or whatever and hence qualify for QFF points. Then simply use the gift card to make all your purchases and hence by-pass the min $30 spend rule and still earn your points in advance?

I do not know where you got this "house rule" from....but I have bought many gift cards on numerous occassions where that was the only item bought.

Sometimes for only $10 and sometimes more. ie I bought $750 on my Earth Amex just before the 3 points per $ rate finished.

That would have you double dipping.

I would imagine that the software will simply discount Gift Cards and any other non_QFF earn from the spend.

The rewards card has a barcode on the back of it, it's simply swiped much the same was all all your food was at the till and a fuel voucher plus QFF points will be given, provided you have reached the right amount of $ AND linked your QFF# to your card online.

If paying by credit card, you'll get the points on your card just like usual.

and also, I need to give the card to my other family members when they go shopping at woolworths etc. so is it possible to make duplicate cards,

It's just a barcode, so it can be copied, however, giving copies of your card to family members and/or friends might be a violation of the terms and conditions, in which case your card could be cancelled, and points could be forfeited. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you're allowed to. Be careful. I know I wouldn't do that.

The alternative is your family members can claim their own cards, and earn their own points. If you want their points for a reward of your own, you'll obviously have to wait till they get to the minimum QF transfer point of 5000.

By linking their cards to your card though, you'll all be able to share fuel vouchers earned by your individual shops.

also, a few have mentioned getting others to earn you points, so if you are getting it for family members, since you can do the annual transfer once per year, then isn't this all you need to do??

As above, indeed, this is the right way to do it.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if getting cash out affects your point earning potential. I'd guess it wouldn't qualify, but it's worth asking I reckon.

If they had such a loophole they would son close it for obvious reasons.
Such an obvious aspect will most likely have been closed off.

ie Wish Cards are basically cash withdrawals and have been closed off.

By the way as I have never done it...is there a fee for cash withdrawals?

Agreed, can't see why it would be restricted and have used credit card for gift cards from other large merchants.

Either way, the credit card is only used once, so there's only one set of points being paid by the merchant. And the ER card can be used in conjunction with a credit card payment so you're not getting anything you wouldn't be able to get on that side just by using a credit card.

Hi, I think this is a great idea & as I always use my credit card for the points, I will now be able to double dip as long as I spend over $30 per transaction. :D

* though no double dipping by buying gift cards.(or at least the Woolworths Card)
* double dipping is only on each dollar in excess of the first $30.

The terms may say no points if you purchase gift cards.

But does anyone have practical experience?

If you purchased gift card(s) along with your grocery purchases, the software would need to be well setup to give points on your grocery purchases and not on the gift card(s) purchase.

It probably is, but may not be. That is why I ask if anyone has tried it yet and the result?

I believe their software is smart enough to not allow staff discounts on Gift Card purchases (well Wish Cards anyway, not sure on 3rd party cards, ie iTunes) Woolworths also have stored valued cards called Essentials cards which only allow purchases or a subset of goods (no tobacco or alcohol)

So I guess their software is pretty well written.

Should be very easy to set up.

I would note that the screenshots of people already gaining the points show a bonus column.

Such a column we would assume is their as Woolies will no doubt offer bonus points for buying select items.

ie Coles are doing this now with both Fly Buys.

so if you have a system to award bonus points it should easily be able to cope with no points for an item.

From what we have read this already includes Wish cards as well as cigarettes.

No doubt cash withsdrawals will not count either.

There may well be other items.

Anyway just buy a $5 Wish card on June 22 with other items totalling more than $30 and you will know within a day or two. My expectation is that this will earn zero points on the Wish Card spend.

However on Cards/vouchers that cannot be spent in a Woollies business I would expect to get points. ie on Mobile Phone vouchers.

The reason why Wish Cards are disqualified is to prevent double dipping. So purchases which are not double dips should earn points.

I might start buying more expensive recharges to take advantage of points, as oppose to the $30 vouchers I buy now that would account for a fuel voucher only.

Just getting back to my reference of Woolies " house rules ".....

I was refused by a 'check out chick' to buy a Gift Card / wish Card with an AMEX card a few months back.

She told me, that it was a management directive.

However, this may vary from store to store.....

I have however, bought Gift Cards on credit from Coles.

I have also bought a carton of cigarettes from Coles, and got Fly Buys points credited for a single purchase of the cigarettes !!!

GORDO

Purchases of smoking products are only excluded in Qld, ACT an SA. In other states they are awarded

If you were refused...you were refused.

But every Safeways store I go into has them at the Registers available for purchase, and I have bought them from many stores on many occassions and always with an Amex (Earth Ame as well as Maximiser) and never with a problem or query at all.
