Or can one of the Mods please edit the OP to insert that Wishcards cannot earn QFF points...otherwise it will keep getting asked....as too may are not willing to actually read threads.

No. WISH Gift card activation does not qualify for Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

whats the difference bertween activation and purchase?

so you don't get any points when you redeem the wish card, so not much point/benefit in getting points by buying/redeeming wishcards!

When you pay for most purchases like food then you get points, even if paying with a wish card - i.e. when you redeem a wish card you get points.

When you buy a wish card you DO NOT get points, because you will get points when you actually use the wish card to pay for purchases. So no you can't double dip, but yes you do get points for all purchases.

got it!!!! so for my situation, absoltuely no benefit buying/redeeming wishcards....

wonder if there are any other ways to maximise!

There might be a benefit in wish cards if you want to shuffle your cash flow slightly. I can buy them at a 5% discount from my union. But I don't think they accept AMEX which limits me to 1 point per $ with visa.

The way to maximise is to shop as few times as possible, hence only getting hit with the $30 minimum once and to use your best earning CC for that shop. So I shop once a week at about $250 per shop. I'll earn more points that way then by shopping 5 times a week for $50 a pop.

Doesn't benefit that greatly for me as I only shop for 1 and my last visit was $45.xx so theoretically I'd receive 15 additional points. Sure it's something but over a period of 52 weeks thats an extra 780 points. Woolies has sucked me dry of $45 x 52 = $2340, its a nice profit margin to Woolies and its only costed them $5 to QFFP for 780 points.

Now comes the important stuff (for Woolies), everyone now shops at them and their market share has grown skywards - "in your Coles Group face" I'd expect Woolies to say.

While it is likely that increasing market share is behind the move to QFF points, I am not so sure it is driven by an 'in your Coles Group face' motivation. It is likely that Woolworths has grown about as far as it can by buying out the smaller competitors, and in any case there aren't too many of them left. Buying and rebranding competitors is a strategy that has worked for them in the past, but going forward is likely to fuel growth lass than it has.

So for Woolworths it is a matter of trying to increase sales through their existing outlets and anything they may open. Offering some reward for shopping there is one means, and is possibly aimed at getting shoppers in and allowing them to compete less on price.

Largely that means at the expense of Coles, who are experimenting with what to do with their Fly Buys scheme.

However, when it comes to basic groceries, I don't think they are offering me enough of an incentive to change to shopping with them more. I will retain a value focus, and if that means shopping at Woolworths and getting some points thrown in, then so be it. If it cheaper to buy what I need elsewhere, then I won't be getting too many points.

True. That is how to maximise points gained. But at least for me would actually cost me money.


However I tend to be a ruthless shopper with virtually all my purchases made via genuine specials or mark-downs. For this reason combined with my wife tending to just buy what is handy and that I hate housework I tend to do the family shopping.


So in terms of maximising benefit to me I will maintain some small shops as 1 QFF points is only worth 2-4% and I can save more by buying when items are discounted.

By buying products when they are discounted I save upto 50%. Much of this is gained by shopping at particular times.

ie a particular Coles near me (other Coles do not as much) discounts a good range of meat & seafood by about 40% each Monday and so I always buy 3-5 days of meat then. 1 QFF point per $ at Safeways will not lure me from this.

I however change from typically doing all medium shops of say $50-ish per trip at Safeways to say $200 in one hit...and then less than $50 on the others.
 
So has no one else received the 500 point offers to sign up your email and link your QFF number?

if so it looks like this was targetted to only those who had not already suplied email addresses.

It will not only be Woolworths supermarkets.

The offer will be available to Woolworths Supermarket and Liquor customers from 22 June and to BIG W
customers from 16 July. Offers will also be launched in coming months for customers of BWS, ****Smith and participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets.

Will not change my shopping habits! If I shopped at Woolworths already it may be advantageous, but I figure if I was to start shopping there I would pay more in price for food or general household items than the value of any points I could possibly make. Definitely need some competition in the supermarket domain. I find Woolworths quite offensive
 
500 QFF points to update your email and link your QFF Number to the Everyday Card.

Well at least my 3 kids got that invite in the mail today from Woolworths.:)

Mum and Dad (ie me) who had already done both last week did not get a letter.:(

So have I :
a/ missed out because I alread did it
b/ get it anyway because I already did it

Or is it just because it is a huge mail-out and my letter is still coming??
Hard to say. I didn't get the offer and my wife did. This happened about a week after I linked up our QFF accounts with our cards and also linked the cards.

On the other question of shopping habits. Basically, it suits me. Wife does the shopping once per week woolies is within easy walking distance. She does a list with the aid of the weekly catalogue, and walks there Saturday morning. I sleep in and drive up to pick her up when she calls. WIN-WIN

As for shopping around for specials, yep that saves money. But we follow the other route of shopping only once and therefore limiting the impulse buying.
 
My wife and I each received the letter offering 500 QFF points. We had already provided email addresses on registering.

A look at the email page showed we had not provided all three 'phone numbers so sorted that out.

A nice little bonus if it works out ...

does anybody know how long it takes for the points for QFF go onto the account or at least through the Frequent flyer section of the easyrewards website,

I got my card, linked QFF, went shopping, the petrol voucher went on straight away, but the QFF points are not there after 24 hours, I know its only 24 hours but it was as big shopping so I don't wnat to miss out

The launch date for members of the public, that is, non-staff customers, is next Monday, 22 June. It is only being tested with Woolworths staff at the moment. Unless you work for Woolworths, you will not earn QFF points on any purchase made before next Monday.
 
LOL it pays to read when the program actually launches.

Anyway, haven't received this email about 500 bonus points, but hoping I just automatically qualify as I would of done what it's asking anyway.
 
yes pays to read, I got so excited and saw other people mentioning being credited for points, I just completely forgot

oh well, another week or so
 
Yeah my points were posting to QFF very quickly initially but now it seems to have slowed down and im still waiting for points to go thru that posted on everydayrewards a week ago. I'm thinking it's deliberate and they'll start pushing across points in larger blocks rather than as individual purchases.
