OJS operating QF15 and OEH operating QF107. Neither of these aircraft are being retired, as they are refurbs,

there must be a charter or something resulting in the cancellation of QF12.

Maybe its the brethren again.

although games are reportedly well sold.

These 744 retirements are making me nervous. Mrs_O and I have a Y+ booking on QF51/52 in June ( br special) and I'm wondering what will happen if it is operated by 333!

Maybe you're tickets will be enhanced to be front row of whY!

Damn it!! Got an email from .br which prompted me to log into my QFF account. Have been moved from 51/52 to 5/6 with dom connections to SYD. Doing a dummy booking for the same dates for BNE/SIN direct shows it is now a 333.

Why fly direct, when you can connect :).

Mrs_O not happy though as she is not a good flyer.

Me too. QF52 in Oct.....no way we're going to suck up accepting an inferior angle bed. I'll just wait and snap up a couple of award seats on another OW carrier!

We are flying Y+, hence the change to fly via SYD.

I guess if we were booked in J then I might feel the same as you. Having said that, a droopy Mk2 is not that much different to a Mk1 IME.

Good point! Have booked 4 Int flights for this trip and this is the only one on QF - silly bugger!

BTW will you get more SC with the change thru Syd?

Looks like I will. Booked into the 'B' fare bucket for the domestic connections, so that's an extra 40SCs, which means I will achieve WP this year for the first time ever, without needing any more work trips or an SC run to make up the difference.
 
I received this today. It's a week late however, at least they have made an attempt to inform (and sugarcoat) the downgrading to the cough seats.

EF alerts set and all things being equal - we'll be flying home BA F or CX J from HKG.

We wish to advise you of an update to your Qantas Booking Reference xx_xx_ scheduled to be operated by a Qantas Boeing 747 aircraft to and from Brisbane and Singapore. This flight will now be operated by an Airbus A330 with a First Generation Skybed with a slight incline.

This change is a result of a detailed review of our network, which has involved re-assigning aircraft to better match customer demand, including flights operating between Brisbane and Singapore. You will still enjoy the full benefits of the Business cabin including personal space, service, food and wine and entertainment.

The A330 reconfiguration program is underway and by the end of this year the first of the refurbished aircraft will be introduced, which will feature fully flat beds and direct aisle access from every Business seat.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience.

Is the 744 still operating ex-SYD? I wonder if they'd let you re-route onto the 744?

Up to a point it is. I got rerouted from BNE-SIN to BNE-xSYD-SIN and vv in order to maintain my Y+ booking in June. It seems as though later in the year QF5/6 will also be operated by a 333.
 
Yes, in the route and fleet update announcement a few weeks ago, AJ said that all flights to SIN from both BNE and SYD would be moving to the A330 fleet by the latter part of this year.

The sooner the J seats are updated to the new version the better - though I'm one of those whose never seen much difference between Skybed I and Skybed II - I don't like either!

...but they aren't being updated to the new version. The A330s will be getting the brand new QF J product.

yeah, that's the "new version" I'm talking about - I certainly wouldn't call Skybed II "new" by any stretch of the imagination!!
