Which is just Skybed Mk III really. I don't see your point.

Skybed, whether Mk I or II, refers to the shell design originally conceived by Marc Newson. The new J product doesn't have this same design and is being referred to as Business Suites in the QF literature. That is my point. Pretty simple really.

QF calling it a suite is just marketing. It is more akin to the Skybed in design and is still designed by Marc Newson. A suite, sic EK or SQ, it is not.

Not that I'm slamming the design. I can't wait to try it out, whenever that may be :).

Just like calling it a Skybed is marketing also. It's like saying a 777 is a version of the 767 because it is still an aircraft and also designed by Boeing. It may not be a suite either, but it's also not a Skybed.

...anyway moving on

IMO it doesn't look anything like a Skybed. I think it's being fitted in 1-2-1 and I can't wait to try it out

Agreed. A droopy Mk II = Mk I, IMO.

.

One is yesterday's hero and the other one was a poor choice from the get go.

In regards to the new yet to be installed A330 J seat.......looks like a cheap copy of CX. I suppose we should be grateful QF didn't copy the coffin.

It still looks narrow in the shoulders like most of the straight designs including the existing Skybeds which is a negative. Many of the herringbone style designs overcome this and have notable extra width in that area which stops shoulders and arms being crammed in.

Is the 744 still operating ex-SYD? I wonder if they'd let you re-route onto the 744?

Did look at this however, no award seats open - EF alert set. Haven't thought of being allowed to re-route due to being an award booking and it's still the same flight in the same class.....pretty sure the answer would be no.

So an email from QF corporate advises the extra 388 will go to DFW with "adjustments" to the mix of 744 and 388 on the HKG route (read: enhancements...)

So much for the Asian century, it's the AAmerican century instead.

Asia will mostly get smaller A330s with ultimately a better business product and I would hope improved frequncy (given downguage) so I wouldn't be giving up on Asia yet

With the 380 changes the question about HKG then becomes do they run the 747 old un-refurb 4 class (keeping first) or instead the refurb 3 class (losing the first class 'advantage' over CX, but MkII J?)

Will be interesting to see if the DFW announcement means more 744 withdrawals. I'd like to think QF would bring JNB to refurb product based on the length and ending duopoly, or possibly NRT if loads are good enough for a 747. The other possibility might even be a future increase in SCL frequency?

With BNE-SIN going A330 and two 744 freed up from DFW... They can operate JNB and NRT with refurb 744s.
