If your a Qantas aircraft with the rego EBU you have not really had much luck, the old Cairns mascot also previously registered with EBU was broken up in Cairns in 2009

my God that's at low altitude..

Was that a qantas aircraft? I seem to remember at one stage it was in FNQ Air colours on display (I've made that name up as I can't remember the proper name of the airline). A mate at primary school whose dad worked for FNQ Air actually invited me to their christmas party one year. Highlight of getting a joyflight in one of their operational DC3s.
It was BPA formally Bush Pilots Airways. I think it (BPA) lasted until the late 80s when it was sucked up by Australian Airlines... About the last operator of DC-3s I think. Ditto with the Christmas party in CNS just after finishing high school so '77 I guess. Great hanger party...apparently...was 18 at the time...

Apologies if this has already been posted, however it appears QF 747-400 VH-OJD is scheduled to finish service with Qantas on 06/07MAR13.

Flightaware shows test flight this am AVV-AVV and scheduled departure to SYD this afternoon.
FlightAware

I assume that was the 744 I saw (from the freeway) with lights ablaze yesterday afternoon.

It was still there ~ 830 this morning.....

Is OJD the 2-class bird?

Yep, was seen commonly betwixt SYD and PER for much of the last year or so ...

It also seemed to be their "super-sub" for last minute cover for IRROPs/Mx issues. Also had decent capacity for "issue recovery", and being a 744 (rather than 380) could get into more airports / be managed on ground more easily.

Shame to see it go. You'd wonder at the current second hand price they almost could have kept it. But no doubt the maintenance costs would start adding up.

Farewell OJD.

And lately NRT, although I had the pleasure of watching her takeoff from SIN around midnight for FRA!

Plenty of other subs on offer with better cabin config, if you were on QF5 last night in PE I wonder if it was an opup or op down?

She seemed to get the FRA sub not infrequently.

"Only" at 31,000 2h30m into the flight so assume its operating as QF15 and not an empty ferry (which presumably would also have gone straight to the desert and not via LAX?

Wonder if it'll get a water cannon in Lax?

Operating QF15, wonder what happened to the PE pax, and how the J pax like their Mark 1 Skybed and old IFE?

Surely if ever there was a chance to ask for your money back this flight would be it? I know that you cannot always be guaranteed the plane you booked on but surely travelling on this beast is not being provided what you paid for, especially the PE and J customers.

J passengers got a skybed didn't they? QF15 is listed as a 747 so I don't get why you'd ask for your money back (considering there is no guarantee of MKII'S skybeds on them)

Apart from the recent presentation (AGM) that said all services to LAX has Skybed MKII!
