Qantas international Economy Class meals

TBU-SYD Y - Late Dec 2024. No hot meals catered on this 5h15min flight.

J didn't look any better, with a permutation of items below, a hot soup and bread 😂

I mean, there was a snack basket at the back (with the same snacks and a mandarin - which I took!), crew proactive with drinks, but that was pretty much it!
That is pathetic for that flight time. You should have got a proper meal like you do for AU to NZ flights

QF357 BNE-HIR: There were only three chunks of chicken in the meal. Very poor. This is a Qantaslink (Alliance) flight on the E190.

Seems like a catering problem. It should be a hot meal.

I suspect so too.

QF flights to most of the Pacific Islands are double catered from Australia. They can't offer things like chicken salads in the to Australia direction on the 737s because there is no cold storage for food.

Something went wrong with the catering.

That was catered to spec.

The flight is double catered but as the 737s don't have chilled compartments and due to the length of the outbound flight, nothing perishable can be loaded for the return.
My goodness!

There are "shelf stable" catering products available that at least could pass for a meal.

I guess such are "too expensive" for Qantas to provide on a fare inclusive basis.

This is what cabin crew told me when I asked.

I've heard ROR-BNE, a 6-hour day flight, is the same. Qantas must not have a caterer at TBU or ROR, I guess?
No caterer in TBU.

QF38 SIN to MEL - only a breakfast 1.5hrs before landing.

I fell asleep after take-off so not sure if a supper was served.

No more menus handed out in economy?!
