Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

I agree with Tuapekastar, however it seems to me that QFF should really be policing their own scheme if its to have a hope of being believable and useful to customers and by extension useful as a legitimate advertising system. All I should have to do, as the customer is show my card, if the machine is broken as will happen from time to time, then my responsibility should end at making a retro claim with QFF showing my docket.

Its not good enough to simply shun the customers problems and point fingers at everyone. Sure, it may be the company which runs the scheme, or the restaurant itself which is the issue, but how will this ever get fixed if the major player in the system, QFF, doesn't get out their baton and punish the wicked?

In my weary opinion its yet another example of QF group talking the talk but not being capable (or perhaps willing) of walking the walk.

Hilltop Phoenix Chinese - Castle Hill, NSW : no problem getting the points here (Nov 2011). I'd pre-paid a deposit, then the balance owing on the night (it was a birthday party). Got the full $ value in points, plus paid on AMEX, no surcharge, and got another serving of point to go!

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Points came through from Raavi's coughin in Crows Nest.

Ate at two other restaurants that are part of the program (Criniti's Darling Harbour and Din Tai Fung) over the weekend, got receipts as per normal. will confirm with you all when the points land :)

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Had a disappointing experience at Macchiato in Sydney after having lunch there on March 23rd.

There is the QFF sticker prominently displayed next to the door, and the bill even comes in a leather folder that is branded with the QFF logo and has two slots for cards: one labelled 'credit card' and the other labelled 'QFF card'. I put in the QFF card and my credit card as instructed. A week later I am wondering why points did not post. Seems I was busy in conversation and did not notice the lack of a QFF machine receipt when I got the tax invoice back. I should have been more attentive but this is disappointing service given how much they promote it!

[edit]
Macchiato points just posted a month late. Sorry to the restaurateur!

No problems here with The Bite (Parramatta, NSW). Lovely meal, points credited within 6 days.

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points

Did not award points :(:
Grappa, Leichhardt - printed me the QFF receipt with a purchase of $0.00  I didn't follow up and now they're not even a partner. Shame about the points, the food is actually pretty good.
Money Order Office, Melbourne - said the machine was down and they'd need to write down my details. That was five months ago

Did award points :D:
Bluestone, Melbourne
Chillipadi, Melbourne
Golden Century Seafood, Haymarket
Mask of China, Melbourne
Pan Asian, Prahran
Takumi, Melbourne
Yak Bar, Melbourne
... and probably a few others that I can't remember

The Guylian Cafe in Circular Quay used to award points and one day the signage was gone - they said the program "wasn't really a success."

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points

The list of restaurants is getting smaller :(

However, Church St Enoteca has awarded points every time and is a sensational restaurant with a small compliment of staff who know customer service!!!!

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points

Points came through from Din tai Fung and Criniti's Darling Harbour.

I ate at Milk and Honey in Canberra last week, and the staff knew nothing about the scheme, even though they've been on the website for a few months. I think it's worth adding them to the "Did not award" list.

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points

I went as part of the SMH Let's Do Lunch and I have to say I enjoyed it. It probably been 15 years since I was last there and it's good to see the Ladies Who Lunch, Eastern Suburbs Ganstas and assorted Real Estate Agents still do Friday lunch properly. No Kerri Anne Kennerley this time tho'.

Hi everyone,

I have visited 4 restaurants that were supposedly awarding 3 points per $1 spent. 3 of those restaurants refused to give me points either because their "machine was broken", "we do not have machine", or "our machine is not working today".

Yet, 2 of those 3 restaurants that failed to give me points were advertising the fact that you can "earn Qantas points here".

I have already contacted Qantas about 2 of those restaurants, and they awarded me points after I faxed them my receipts. Today, after another restaurant refused to honour my QFF card, I am really starting to lose my patience. The phone calls, faxes, stress, and time surely cost more than the points that would usually be awarded.

I am thinking of writing them a letter of complaint about this.

Any comments?

Cheers,
lenyJUL

I eat regularly at The ZEST restaurant (located on Pitt Street CBD in Tattersalls Club) and i receive my points every time bases on 3points for 1 dollar spent.
There is another restaurant named Macchiavelli on Clarence Street CBD and it works perfectly and although the food is excellent.
Bothe of them have their machine working all the time.

Tardy in my report, but pleased to say Melbourne's Money Order Office credited the points for a tasty feed on 15 Feb this year.

I am a Jonny come lately to this thread, excuse me if this has already been mentioned, I am a member of the AA Dining in the states, all you do is register a credit card with them, and the points take care of themselves, when you dine at one of their restaurants on their list, there is no AA ff card to show, it is all linked to your credit card number, a few days later, the points appear on the AA member website, Maybe the solution here should be the same in Australia, a one step process where the terminals of these restaurants are programmed to send the points automatically, when a registered credit card is used, so no body can say the machine is broken or no one know how to use the terminal to credit the points

I’ve noticed nearly all the Tandoori Place restaurants have been removed from the list on Qantas. Seeing as they were always telling me their machine was broken I’m glad to see them go, and I wont be going back.

That said, there’s still two listed for QLD. Dad went to the one in Southport the other day and there was no QFF signage at all, despite them still being on the website, and incorrectly too as the suburb listed is Coolangatta but the address is for Southport.

With the vast majority of this chain being removed, is the number of partner restaurants declining?

this is definitely the way Qantas should go.

It won't happen in Oz; they've gotta pay 6% when they provide the points here, so the system discourages acceptance.

Going by the history in the table, Tandoori place seems to have signed up, but with not really the intention of complying. As a result of ongoing complaints to QFF they have been asked to smarten up, but may have, instead, simply told QFF where to go.

There's far more competition on the US, so such automatic redemption would be viewed more favourably there.

Then you have hit the nail on the head, there needs to be a systemic change, and perhaps 6% is too high at the moment, when I am in the US next, I will ask some of the AA dining program restaurants what commission they are paying to AA. Perhaps if the system was simplified here in AUS then perhaps not 6% but only 3% with double to triple the restaurants on board - perhaps wishful thinking. I do get a few sarcastic comments from my US friends about how weak the Qantas dining program is compared to AA.

The Citibank Dining program bonus points (many of the same restaurants as Qantas, probably because both programs are managed by Pinpoint) works very well because it's all linked back to the card used for payment.

Of course, you can't get those points to Qantas at a good rate, but if I eat at one of those restaurants I pay on Citibank due to the inconsistencies with the Qantas program.

I wonder if Citibank charge them a ~7% fee - 7% for rewards and ~1% for merchant service fee?

has anyone had a good look at the restaurants that are causing the problems, dare I say that perhaps they are the ones which struggle in the first place to be profitable and may only make a profit of 15% a meal with all costs taken into account, if this is the case, even I would be tempted to say that the machine was broken.
