Qantas Restaurants that HAVE or HAVE NOT awarded points

has anyone had a good look at the restaurants that are causing the problems, dare I say that perhaps they are the ones which struggle in the first place to be profitable and may only make a profit of 15% a meal with all costs taken into account, if this is the case, even I would be tempted to say that the machine was broken.

That may be so, but if you’re going to rely on the customers from a partner, you should pay up when you’re asked. I honestly don’t mind the food at their restaurants, not great but authentic enough and cheap, however haven’t been back for a while because if their attitude. So they lost a customer.

Going by the history in the table, Tandoori place seems to have signed up, but with not really the intention of complying. As a result of ongoing complaints to QFF they have been asked to smarten up, but may have, instead, simply told QFF where to go.

I did in fact email QFF asking them to remove the Southport location as it was no longer advertising QFF points inside. I haven’t heard back yet but it’s still Monday morning (what am I doing awake?).

I do get a few sarcastic comments from my US friends about how weak the Qantas dining program is compared to AA.

And even Asia Miles, they seem to have a very good selection of earning at restaurants.

The Citibank Dining program bonus points (many of the same restaurants as Qantas, probably because both programs are managed by Pinpoint) works very well because it's all linked back to the card used for payment.

Of course, you can't get those points to Qantas at a good rate...

You can with CitiBusiness - 1:1 thus giving you 4.25 per $ plus the free plonk. (Sorry for a little OT).

Just out of interest, are these the more upmarket places.
I like the AA Advantage dining as once you have had a few meals, most places give you 5 AA ff miles, linked to a registered card (can also be a AUS CC by the way), plus 1.5 QFF miles as my card is an AMEX card, so it is not a bad lurk for something I do anyway while in the US.

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points

Perhaps a sign of how well the program is going, I recently got an email from QFF after making a points booking, outlining areas I wasn’t earning points and how I could be. Pay, Stay, Hire and Eat didn’t have any points earned in, but despite Pay, Stay and Hire having a blurb about how I could be earning in those areas, Eat did not.

They called me back today to say they were investigating and if the restaurant in question was no longer participating they would remove them from the website. Good to be acknowledged :)

excellent. about time they took some action.

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Had a disappointing experience at Macchiato in Sydney after having lunch there on March 23rd.

There is the QFF sticker prominently displayed next to the door, and the bill even comes in a leather folder that is branded with the QFF logo and has two slots for cards: one labelled 'credit card' and the other labelled 'QFF card'. I put in the QFF card and my credit card as instructed. A week later I am wondering why points did not post. Seems I was busy in conversation and did not notice the lack of a QFF machine receipt when I got the tax invoice back. I should have been more attentive but this is disappointing service given how much they promote it!

I need to retract this post.

Macchiato points just posted a month late. Sorry to the restaurateur!

It probably should've taken a bit faster than a whole month... but at least all is well now.

Nope it should not

Points from restaurants may take up to eight weeks to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

The issue was more to do with the fact that I wasn't given a receipt from the points machine, so I assumed they hadn't swiped my card and I was careless when I left, rather than the time period.

I have edited your original post with your recent update and a link to the updated post.

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

The "machine broken" is an interesting one. My favourite Sushi bar in Sydney now accepts FF cards. It is the same machine as they use for the Credit card payments. so they swipe it once for the payment and then swipe my QFF card for the points. 3 times, and 3 time points have posted about 8 days later.

I'd say it is the restaurant claiming it isn't working as they are effectively paying for those points.

What sushi bar is that?

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Had dinner at "Bar Barossa" in Brisbane last weekend and points have been credited within less than a week (they swiped my FF card and I received a "receipt" for the points claim). Besides that- highly recommended restaurant, excellent food and incredibly good wine list plus very attentive and friendly service :p

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Does anyone have a set of instructions on how to process the card so that we can assist those who claim they don't know how or say that the machine is broken?

Re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Slightly OT but:

Does anyone know how the extra point works with Epiqure?

Epiqure member are supposed to get an extra point per $ (4 rather than 3) at participating restaurants. Does the extra point normally post at the same time or some time later?

Thanks in advance,

JV

The extra point/$ posts shortly (a day or so) after the restaurant points post to your account. Listed as eqiqure bonus points or something like that.

Thanks Medhead,

Well then....+1 & I dined at the East Ocean in Dixon Street SYD last week and took advantage of the Citibank wine offer and epiQure. Received the free bottle of wine (listed @ $45 on the menu) + 4.25 points per $ (CitiBusiness) + 4 points (QFF and epiQure).

That's a total of 8.25 points per $; plus the free wine!

And the meal wasn't half bad either.

If the restaurant has a separate machine for QFF (which is grey and looks looks exactly like a Woolworths EFTPOS machine), they simply swipe the Qantas card, press 1 to indicate a 'purchase', then enters the total transaction amount (excluding tips) in dollars and cents using the number keys and press enter. The receipt will then print which will show how much you spent, and not how many points you earned (just multiply the $$ value by 3). I suspect that QF designed the system like this to easily allow for the number of points awarded (currently 3QFF/$1 to be amended with ease, and to make it simpler for restaurant staff who only have to key the purchase value - in the same way that they would for an EFTPOS card or credit card. :)
