re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Machiatto in Sydney is very good with the posting of points. Not living in the City I actually found this restaurant to eat breakfast at one morning before the Sydney Cricket Test and I used the Qantas website to find a convenient restaurant not knowing anything off the top of my head/wanting to try somewhere different. Not only did they do a fantastic breakfast, but the points were posted within a week. I've been back at least half a dozen times since, mainly for lunch, and find the menu reasonable, service fairly good and the location very central.

Other 'good' restaurants IMO in terms of issuing points are Vivo in Sydney, as well as Vialetto and Blue Train Cafe in Melbourne

NOT GOOD - Bluewater Cafe, Manly (Sydney). Ate and was told that, 'sorry the machine isn't working.' I ensured I had the duty manager write on the receipt that "needs frequent flyer redeeming" before she signed it. This was in February, went back in April and asked if the machine was working, and sure enough 'sorry, not working'. Diasppointing considering I chose that cafe, due to the a bility to earn points. I'm just going to collect all my documents, and send them in direct to QFF

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points - Harden Up.

I should start out by saying I am not a lawyer but in a dispute once a lawyer gave me some sound advice. I was holding on to some ones gear until they paid an unrealted bill but had not official right to a lien. He said, "it's not theft, just a dispute over ownership".

I have applied something similar to this when Taxi drivers have used Tariff 2 instead of tarrif 1. I point out their mistake, give them a business card (no personal details other than my name) and ask them to get the bill calculated correctly and send it to me and I will pay it. I would pay it but I have never got a bill, as it would require them admitting to the offence.

So in the restaurant situation, give them your business card and get them to give you a call when 'the machine is working' so you can pay the bill. If the police come their job is just to take details and escort you safely away (keeping the peace is their job not getting involved in civil disputes).

It's not theft - its just like any other disputed invoice in business.

If the chef comes out with a knife I will hide behind the relative anonymity of my online identity - you will need to hide some other way.

When i drove taxis, i forgot to change over the tariff a couple of times. I'd just restart the meter on the correct tariff as soon as the mistake was noticed. Passengers are usually happy with this as they get a cheap fare. Now, when a passenger, if this happens I ask for the same thing.

Re: Qantas Restaurants NOT awarding points - Harden Up.

When i drove taxis, i forgot to change over the tariff a couple of times.

Mostly this occurs when I arrive at 1pm and happens about 50% of the time from the airport - I don't think that many taxi drivers forget for several hours. The industry is going downhill in Adelaide because taxis are too cheap.

When drivers select the correct tariff - I give them $20 against the $9 fair.

OT I know.

Agreed about the forgetting. I only forgot when driving Saturday iirc, when it is tariff 2 at 4am but switches back to tariff 1. Sunday was good as it was 2 all day. I also forgot to switch over to 2 a couple of time until half way into night shift.

There are bigger problems with Adelaide taxis than being too cheap.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Got a surprise in my QFF account today - surprise because I didn't follow up after my initial inquiry and hadn't heard anything for about two weeks, but the points I was supposed to get from my Indian restaurant meal some time ago have finally arrived.

No reason to get up and do a happy dance by any means, but there you have it.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

I know it's getting slightly of the QFF points track but I used to have a problem getting taxis to accept cards over cash. I'd get to the end of a journey and find "machine not working". Now before I get in I ask if it's working. If it is I get in, if not I just go to the next taxi on the queue. Maybe it would pay to ask the Manager before you dined, if it wasn't working at that stage I'd just move on to the next restaurant.

A good point, and I made a point of contacting the restaurant that they award QFF points before I made a reservation.

My mistake was somewhat alluding to what you mentioned, which is to check when I arrived at the restaurant that they have the machinery and skills to actually award the points.

It is disconcerting to arrive at a restaurant and find that they cannot supply QFF points when the website says that they can. It means having to find another restaurant that achieves the purpose that may be inferior to the choice you first selected, and hoping that it is near and not full so you can dine there (probably without a reservation).

NOT - Sydney, Potts Point, Yellow Bistro on Macleay
Machine not working despite Qantas FF triangle on the main counter.

Have receipt and will scan and fax.

YES - As above. No probs with China Doll

JPD Restaurant in the Swissotel Market Street Sydney

I am still waiting for my points after being told the machine is not working. Funny it did charge my Amex $212.00

I refused to leave the restaurant till the waiter recorded my QF no. in his note book and promise me he would sort it the next day.

I grow old and grey waiting! I have struck similar problems with hotel accommodation and that is the reason why I no longer user the Rydges Capital Hill in Canberra and the Windsor in Melbourne.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

In contrast I had dinner recently as Ninniku Jip and it was all very easy, I handed over my card and it was swiped and a receipt (QFF) given.

Now I need to just sit back and see how long the points take to post, as it hasn't been 7 days yet.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Update on my complaint about JPB restaurant at the Swissotel Market St Sydney.

I have now written to Qantas Frequent Flyer and have just received a phone call from Qantas Representative. She explained that there is no way that Qantas can credit the missing points form the restaurant bill. The Qantas representative then told me that Qantas is aware that businesses are not crediting member’s points and she has referred my letter on to Senior Management. She then went on to explain to me that the only way that I can get my points, is to go back to the Restaurant and demand that they credit the points.

It looks like I might be going back on a busy Saturday night and making a scene in front of other diners.

The Qantas representative also explained the Qantas has made this as simple as possible for the merchants and if the machine works for Credit cards it is also working for the QFF Card.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

i've had the same problems with East ocean in chinatown. As per others, machine sure did work with the amex to the tune of about $350

Happy to report that they posted on Friday

Update on my complaint about JPB restaurant at the Swissotel Market St Sydney.
As soon as you said JPB Restaurant, I knew exactly where this was going. That (Swissotel Sydney) property in the space of 18mths has gone from polished to polished turd.

Last visit was in February - and I had no end of problems with this property, from pre-auths, housekeeping, lacklustre concierge & front desk services, extremely slow check-in, failure to provide Club Swiss Gold membership benefits, and of course their constant problem of not crediting QFF points.

I'm sworn off this property, and will be switching to Hilton Sydney on my next visit.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Unfortunately I now have reason to join this thread after my rather ordinary dining experience at Coast restaurant in Sydney.

After booking I thought I'd check the QF website on the off chance they were a point giving place - sure enough they are on the list.

After putting my QF card in the wallet with my CC, the waiter only got three steps away before returning and telling me that they 'don't accept these any more'.

Well, QF will be receiving a very cranky call (given their email system is down) suggesting firmly that they either give me the points and have a word with the restaurant or remove them from the website.

This is simply false advertising and very poor for the frequent flyer franchise.

I'll let the forum know if I receive a satisfactory response from QF.

Not happy Jan!!

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

I had a different experience with the Strand Restaurant in Glenelg SA, it's on the Qantas Website, yet even management there have said they have never even been in contact with Qantas. So no points if you go there........

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Strathmore Hotel Adelaide is first class for meals and service in their balcony restaurant. Swipe Qantas card and give receipt with point total and have been credited within 10 days.
A very happy customer who often returns to the Strathmore - right opposite Casino and Festival theatre and they deliver the points without any hassles.

re: Qantas Restaurants that DO or DO NOT award points

Jellyfish - has always worked no problem

Sorry about being a little slow with this conversation but Jellyfish are the only restaurant that haven't creditted me with points. Sent the receipt to QFF and told to take it up with the restaurant but didn't send back my receipt. live and learn
