Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

I sent my request on Monday 18th and received an email yesterday with a case reference number and advising that they would be back in touch in due course. Given that I only sent screenshots of my activity I am expecting them to follow up with a request for more information at some point.

I applied on Monday 18th, and enclosed pdf printouts of my Activity statement from the Velocity website, my Velocity status (I have re-qualified and my expiry date is in the next few days), and the photo of my physical card. Not sure if I got lucky with not requiring further statements or if it was because my status printout had extra info. I have decided to ask Velocity for my statements just in case they get asked for.

I received the following message in the Qatar contact centre portal:

Dear Mr L,
Thanks for your email; we acknowledge receipt of the below documents.
1. Privilege Club membership number.
2. Copy of VelocityFrequent Flyer Membership card.
3. Copy of the Frequent Flyer account statement.
We are currently reviewing your request. Upon approval, you will receive a welcome email to your registered email address.
If for any reason your tier status match is declined, you will also be notified of the reason for this.
Thank you for choosing Qatar Airways.

I've also applied for the status match, although I tried this previously (few years back) with Qatar, and it was a nightmare to jump through all the hoops/corro, so I just gave up.

I suspect the volumes of applications from VA refugees must be really high - to give you an idea about 70 staff from my department applied for a match (when it came out it was forwarded around) as a lot of us used to fly VA quite alot. Now our corporate booking tool has blocked VA, so alot of people jumped at it!

You're probably right considering they seem to have ended the status match early and then reintroduced it minus VA. They're probably combing through the mass VA applications and they may be down staff because I'm pretty sure the next couple days are religious public holidays in that region.

Wonder if they might only offer the status match to VFF Platinum members if they need to cap numbers?

Applied on the 18th (at around 8pm Sydney time) with screenshots of my Velocity account - haven't heard anything back, but have requested and received an actual statement from Velocity in the meantime.

Applied 18th myself.
Just got standard reply email now.

Standard reply? I don't think anybody has got a standard reply on this thread other than those that had been requested for extra information - is that what you meant?

What's the standard email? Just confirmation that they received your application?

Applied on 18th May and have just received this email as well.

Qatar Airways extends the deadline for its Privilege Club status match for Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, South African Airways and Turkish elites.

This is the second time the application deadline has been extended.

But not for Velocity members.

Again.

I think this is a good sign that they will match most people. By this stage they know how many people are applying and are still keeping it going. They are really just looking for ways to keep business coming in without cheapening their product, same with their 5000 mile rebooking policy, they don't mind people taking advantage of it, as long as you're spending money with them

Only been 10 days & since they've expanded the response time frame to 20days, bit more time in the lounge waiting.

Hopefully if successful (which I'm not too hopeful) the review month will be June.

I'll be surprised if we all get status matched.
