Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

I applied on the 18th and I'm still waiting to hear anything but some posts here provide some hope I may still receive something. I am starting to wonder though if its just a great ploy to gather a free database of emails and status levels of customers with competitor airlines/alliances for future targeted marketing and offers because I haven't read of many having success.

Early this morning I received a second confirmation of the Velocity statement which they requested. It’s now under review so I guess we wait and see what happens. Based on the chart they provided in the promo it seemed they would match silver, gold and platinum members to their own equivalent. I guess as the previous poster suggested it could be a data gathering ploy however I’m sure they’re also banking on the fact that many of those receiving a match may not even get to use it much or at all based on the current circumstances.

I applied on Monday the 18th and just received a notification that they could not open my attachments of my statements and to resent them (no mention of the 20th June)

On 18 May I sent a scan of my physical membership card and pdf versions of my activity from the website. On 23 May I received an email about a service request via the QR online service centre. The message there confirmed receipt of the scan of my membership card but asked for statements that show my full name, member number, and status (no deadline given). Emailed Velocity Gold and got a manually produced statement about a day and a half later which I then submitted to QR yesterday via the online service centre and email. Let's see how long it takes from here...

I sent an email Mon 18th at around 2pm and have heard nothing back yet. 🤔
Anyone else still waiting from Monday? i heard murmurs of public holidays for them at the moment?

I sent in my email 1am last Tuesday and got a standard response (Request forwarded for processing) this Thursday. Still waiting for advice on status match outcome. However, I used my Krisflyer Gold for the status match application.

Good luck to us all 🤞

Maybe it's worth sending a follow up email.

I sent mine in Tuesday 19th and haven't heard a response. It's over the 10 days stated in the T&Cs.

Neither of us have had a response.

I applied on the 18th and received a response on the 28th saying my request is being reviewed.

I called Qatar Airways yesterday to see if there was any other update and was told they could see my request for a status match and that I'm showing as "pending platinum".

I was advised that my application is in a queue to have documents verified and once that is done the upgrade will be processed- most likely within the next 10 days.

It sounds like everyone's applications will be processed in due course (the Qatar Airways website does say 20 days).

I think everyone needs to relax a little bit, it's not like most people need to use their new status benefits in the next few days. ;)

yes, just making sure it’s delay is normal and not that it hasn’t been received.

There was quite a few people that had responses early on who sent in up to Monday morning, but it looks like that’s where they’re up to at the moment with what everyone else has commented for VA.

I suppose that’s the great thing about forums, you can find a range of experiences and see if yours is somewhat within normal before needing to follow up (or panic about missing the boat 😉).

That’s brilliant news if they’re matching platinum for platinum

Sent in mine and my wife's on Tuesday around 10am and we both received the processing email Sunday around 1:30am. FYI we sent the screenshot of our activity account that had our names and velocity numbers.

Good point. The further away the start date the better!

I decided to proactively follow-up velocity and get statement which I subsequently sent to Qatar as figure they are likely to ask for it

On the positive assumption that a status match occurs, I was turning my attention to how I could maintain gold status --- am I correct in assuming that since qmiles can be selected when travelling on QF flights, including I believe domestic flights, qpoints accrue as well?

Also, if above assumption is correct, does anyone know what qpoints would accrue on aust domestic flights? (E.g. syd-melb)

It feels like a strange question but the q calculator is unhelpful in this regard.
