Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

On the positive assumption that a status match occurs, I was turning my attention to how I could maintain gold status --- am I correct in assuming that since qmiles can be selected when travelling on QF flights, including I believe domestic flights, qpoints accrue as well?

Also, if above assumption is correct, does anyone know what qpoints would accrue on aust domestic flights? (E.g. syd-melb)

It feels like a strange question but the q calculator is unhelpful in this regard.

The Qatar Airways website states:

Accrual on Qantas domestic flights are only eligible when they are in conjunction with an international flight marketed by either Qantas or Qatar Airways on the same ticket.

Also note that Qpoints & Qmiles are only earned on these QF Economy fare classes: Y, B, H, K, M, L, V. This basically rules out the cheaper Economy fares.

(See QF fare types here - Qantas Class Types | Frequent Flyer)

I have contacted Qatar Airways to ask whether this is still accurate and am still waiting for a reply. Unless they update their program, renewing QR status beyond 12 months is going to be unviable for many Australians.

Can't recall if anyone has mentioned - you can see an update of "Your Previous Requests" (service requests) via the Qatar app under the Contact Centre. No doubt available on the desktop side of things also.
Whilst it won't give too much info, at least you'll be able to see if the emailed request has been acknowledged.

Thanks Matt - I must've missed the 'needing a connecting international flights ' reference - probably explains why the q calculator is so peculiar when calculating q points domestically

If this is about maintaining status beyond the 1st year, remember, besides earning 50% of the required Qmiles, you also need to do a minimum of 4 sectors on Qatar Airways in the 2nd year.

Ditto. I was just too lazy to mention it!
I simply mention it as a means of knowing they’re at least received the initial submission.

Yes, it appears to mean if they have asked for more information then they have resolved the request, I don't read it as they have resolved the Status Match challenge.

Received a follow up today from my application on the 19th saying they require the statement. I've sent another email with the statement from velocity that I requested about a week ago in anticipation so we'll see how that goes.

Sounds like there is a lack of consistency. I received my confirmation of service request but I’d only submitted the pdf screenshot from the my velocity page. Anyway, as long as we platinum matched I don’t mind. I booked business class tickets to Switzerland this morning For Christmas in anticipation

has anyone heard back from Qatar Airways about status match with VA? Or when are they expected to reply?
I think the initial timeframe was 10 days but then changed to 20 days. I wouldn't be too concerned as the promo was open to a number of programs so no doubt the received an influx of applications which will take time to go through.

Bit optimistic and premature to be booking for Europe this Christmas? I hope you're able to go as I'm also wanting to get back to Cape Town before the end of the year but who knows.

Submitted my application on 19 May, and only just got a response today:

I did the same originally, screenshot of home page. After reading this forum I asked Velocity for the official statement just in case and have submitted that now.

In my case, the communication is the same as the "standard" email I received. Does yours provide any additional information?

Yes, the email for me basically said that my service request had been reviewed and responded to and I had to log onto my account to read the actual message which asked for a statement
