Out of interest, has anyone received their physical cards yet?

They’re not handing out cards due to Covid-19.

I got gold for my platinum, so oneworld sapphire only.

Wondering whether I just leave it as it is and be thankful considering there might not be any flying in the next 12 months or ask them about it...

I don't think so they are sending cards...I contacted few times customer care long wait upto 1 hour -----I have been told welcome pack has been sent but not sure whether or not I will get if I get when who knows???

If there is word they are / or intending to send the physical pack that's great, bit of a cost to them, must be worth the data their getting from this exercise. Although international parcels taking upto a month to transit, sitting at airports waiting for flights to carry goods, and that's from NZ to Aus. So from middle East could be longer.

I was told on phone when booking flight that Plat card to come for myself and also family member card. In saying this, my VA Plat card just arrived after 3 months last week. haha.

I think I did get lucky with a package to a family member. I sent it from Gold Coast to Hungary and it arrived in 8 days.

I am booked in to fly back on July 21st via SYD on QR as the tours are starting back up again...so I will post in here how all it all goes and to make things easier for people regarding what to expect!

"Passengers from all destinations served by Qatar Airways can still travel with the airline and transit through Hamad International Airport, the third best airport in the world according to SKYTRAX, subject to entry restrictions at their final destination" All lounges open too except the first class.

Such a useless status match. They matched my SQ PPS and Virgin ‘The Club’ to Qatar Gold.
I pushed back, first response they said PPS is only matched to Gold, which isn’t consistent with ExecutiveTraveler and other articles. Pushed back again (also equating VA TCL to Platinum) and they have said they “will review”. Nothing for weeks now, just makes me not want to fly Qatar.. and I actually can, because I live in London.

It has not been the best invite has it!

I mean their plan has worked for me as I have QATAR booked home to Budapest in 10 days which I have never used. But that may be my only QR run until the review date....

Other than that with Australia closed, till what looks like this next financial year, to the rest of the world, the only other options would be some One World connections in the northern hemisphere.

I take it for what it is. At least they will get one run out me and a "family member".

Is this Status Match still happening? I'm currently Silver Velocity but set to go to Gold in August. Should I wait or do it now?
I doubt I'll fly qatar but do qantas every now and then so could come in handy.

Since we can't travel overseas for the foreseeable future, especially unrestricted whilst enjoying the full benefits, at least it gets us into the QF lounges and I suspect I'll be doing a lot more domestic travelling. Without this I wouldn't have access to the lounges and we're still unsure of what will come of VA. We still have the Qcredits as well which I will try to use to upgrade a cheap economy ticket to business. Considering we're in the middle of a pandemic I won't complain that I got something that cost me a few minutes in time to send an email. Free stuff is always welcomed!

Best invite from their behalf.

Was great for me but poorly managed for most. What it costs them to run as to what they get out of it. Status matches cost plenty in marketing and labour and QR have to pay when we use QF lounge. Revenue back will be little at best.

Is there any value in the data they get perhaps?

I live in WA and no prospect of going anywhere til they open our borders. Even then will have to see how bad this plague is. If I get it I will probably die as I have most of the risk factors.
Would like to go to the UK once it's all over and I would do Qatar or the Qantas Perth London direct.

But Virgin doeseem like a dead loss now. But I did get good status runs to the Pacific Inc Raratonga.
However now both Q's are last man standing.

I thought the operating carrier paid for the lounge? Doesn’t really make sense for the FF airline to pay for the lounge, otherwise why do contract lounges restrict entry to certain lounges unless you are flying with that airline (eg a Qantas elite often can’t enter a Qantas contract lounge if flying AA - they have to use the AA lounge).

Thanks for that. Yes 200 is easy to get.i do fly business mostly. But being in WA I'm not going anywhere til our borders are open and there is a vaccination or Covid is gone from the places I go. Oz was looking good but Melbourne stuffed that . I have a lot of risk factors to get this badly. I guess I will be waiting a long time.
