Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Is there any problem showing your QR digital card that shows Emerald Oneworld and walking into a lounge with your lower (silver or bronze) status and QF FF number recorded on your QF BP???

Just wanting to know if a lounge dragon will try pull me up and says it not eligible or some reason why this is not permissible.

Do QF staff inspect all passes on entry or is it mostly done by scanning your BP or FF card like in the VA lounge?

I travelled today, in fact in the air presently on a great QF wifi, and used my QF number for boarding pass and my Qatar digital card for priority check in and lounge access. All good so far. Great service on board!

Cheers, I am not sure if VA has/will offer the same wifi, but it was great today Netflix’n chillin the 5 hours BNE to PER with QF

There was a lengthy thread about this a few months ago. In short, yes you can enter the lounge by showing a QF boarding pass and digital QR card. Some lounge staff previously took issue with this, but Qantas has clarified that you can do this and has sent a memo to lounge staff.

Thats was my experience up in TSV.
Now since the QF BNE J lounge is open alongside the Qpub, im thinking if there will be any issues entering it using just the QR WP digital card, ( i now have QF SG )
Im flying out of BNE this Sunday, and i'll give it a go.

No issues, what-so-ever.
Used the premium entry and bag drop, ( so much easier than with VA's offering with no bag drop )
Showed my QR WP on the app, and waved right in.

I haven’t stepped on a plane since Feb 2020. I don’t think I’ll be maintaining anything at this pace.

I've used the QF Business lounge in Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra once each worth another visit to Canberra coming up shortly.

The Qantas lounges are so superior to Virgin's current offering so I'm glad for it

Yea same it's looking hard my platimun status will expire in july I can't see myself talking any trip- question I was matached my platinum if I can't maintain it does it go to gold r will it go back to start not sure??? Any suggestions

I used it to get into the QF lounge a couple of times. For now I'll concentrate on the QF gold fast track as that will be more valuable for all the domestic travel until international opens up. Would be great if Qatar would extend the match but I'm doubtful.

I e-mailed a couple of different departments at Qatar enquiring about this, pointing out politely that should the Status Match expire in June it will completely defeat the objective in the 1st place, in fact the polar opposite. Plus, no doubt completely wasting HR time spent on processing these applications. I received the usual generic response, in fact I don't think they understood and thought I was non status match member asking for an extension.

Does anyone here have the skills to dig out an e-mail address for someone at Qatar that may be able to look at this? Has worked for me in the past but can't seem to locate the right e-mail address. This person would be ideal as his name is attached to status match welcome e-mails. If a number of us got behind it I see it gaining momentum??

I knew it was a risk that I wouldn't be able to use it. I'm not going to hold that against Qatar.

It’s been a blessing for our company.

Pre-VA1 collapsing we were about 60/40 VA1/QF in terms of flying.

But now with VA2 service and schedule cutbacks and highly inconvenient last minute cancellations we have moved to about 90/10 in favour of QF.

A lot of our staff had VA status but as soon as this became available I sent this around the entire company and everyone I heard applied was successful which has been a good bridge for them flying at the moment.

Quite a few then moved onto the QF status match to VA to earn QF status without the QR piggy back as well.

Has helped our transfer that’s for sure.

After the violation of women at Doha airport last year, I doubt I’d use it for Qatar flights anyway.
