Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Yes I did it. I changed my ticket to refer to my Qatar Privilage membership and claimed the avios. This was done right after the partnership was annacojnced and took along time to show ony Qatar account. I had to send off my boarding passess in the end to Qatar to get it credited. The Avios you get is much lower though than velicity points for local flights, so only do it for the lounge access. As arefernce for Syd to BNE - 464 avios vs 848 for velocity.
How long did the credit take once sent off and how long did you wait before raising it? I’ve got some Bangkok Airways flights I credited to QR that haven’t posted for over 3 weeks now. Maybe their system takes weeks but eventually does it without intervention.

Regarding lounge access - you could always just leave your QR FF# in the booking to grant lounge access, and then change your booking online to your VFF# after you’ve entered. And if that’s not possible, one of the delightful lounge dragons could do it for you before your flight.

Lol thats a good tip changing it after you enter the lounge. Mine took about 3 months to reflect. I think Qatar said I have to wait 4 weeks to see if it clears by itself. After 4 weeks I sent them the boarding passess and took another 4 weeks to reflect on my account.

It's literally been covered in multiple traveller websites and forum including this one and if you were subscribe to this thread you would also have gotten the notification as people on here were actively talking about it after March.
Yeah it’s a pain keeping up with the details when you’re travelling. Thanks… I think.

I haven't been to the EY F lounge (seen pics though) but I have been to the QR Platinum Lounge and from what I can see the EY lounge would've been the better option.
Oh good, Thanks for that. I thought I might have shot myself in the foot but looks like a bonus.

But the main reason I changed carriers was to be on the same flight as my wife and eldest daughter, although they are in J. Availability at the time of booking meant that my youngest daughter and I had to take separate flights/carrier. The schedule/time change made that even worse.

Now just have to assure/convince the wife I’ll be fine in the F lounge without her.

I might be a bit slow.... but is there a way to get this status match still?
I've got platinum velocity and planning to take the reward international seats to europe on a VA flight number, if I can book Qatar then I might try the status match angle and send them the boarding passses?
Would that work?

No - the status match promotion is long closed.
QR is not really customer focused so I believe it would be next to impossible to get them to grant you a status match unfortunately.

Geez, where does that come from? I've found them some of the most customer focussed of any airline!! Doesn't mean they give away status, though, absent a promo.
It’s from previous experience, I had to interact with them for my tickets and my brothers’ and it was painful.

Have you tried contacting them via email or phone ?

Their customer service is not great and if it’s a request that’s out of the most common one, it’s a systematic no, not possible.

Onboard, it’s fantastic.

I booked a reward QR flight last week direct with Avios, and noticed that my previous December 2023 expiry is now March 31 2024. The flights aren’t until a June 2024

Interesting, my membership expiry is still end of December. Perhaps another extension is happening? But why? At some stage you got to think they just have to let those people go if they couldn't requalify for the status, I wonder how much it has cost QR with everyone going to J and F lounges using QR status but crediting the flights to another FF programme.

So, on my account, expiry is 12/2023 but in my apple wallet , it’s 31/3/2024 !

I literally just booked some June 2024 business awards with Qatar 1 hour ago, but unlike you no status extension update on my Apple Wallet QR card. I wonder if the award booking was the trigger for your extension or if this is a broader update gradually being rolled out across their Platinum members. I remain optimistic.

I transferred some Avios to BA a few weeks ago (because it's a pain to book reward flights through QR), end date is still 31/12/2023.

I was only thinking about this yesterday and checked and it showed 31/12/2023 now after seeing this post checked this morning and 31/03/2024. 👍🏻

Same here.
I finally have four reward flights with them but the first is not till 30th April so now I wonder if I will still have gold status with them for these flights!
Wish I'd been WP with Virgin when I did the status match.
