QF to give SCs for Classic Awards [Economy(X) only, booked by Dec 31]

Not everyone travels in J etc for award bookings, many do still choose Y. I have on many occasion. especially when you need to book a few tickets together. can't do that in J.

Loads and loads of people fly Y.

Just not a lot of people on here!

A positive bonus for those who do.

Doesn't hurt anyone who doesn't.

All good. Move on!

Um, so I just called up to attempt to book a JASA and was told that as of yesterday the booking system is now COMPLETELY different, and to fly SYD>ADL>PER on a JASA would cost 60,000 points plus a copay of about $300 (the equivalent Classic is 36,000 + $82, and as of a few days ago the same flight as a JASA was going for 36,000 + $300ish). JASAs, unlike Classics, apparently now take into account all the different sectors so the booking engine views it as a SYD>ADL flight plus an ADL>PER one and charges the appropriate points for that...

So this could be a somewhat (majorly) negative effect of the booking engine change.

I really hope I'm wrong, and I'll be the first to admit I'm not experienced with mASAs, but I talked to the guy for a long time and supervisors were involved! If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it. Sorry if this is off-topic, but it seems to be a direct result of the booking engine change!

So it could be that this is negative for some of us.I agree not the majority of QF passengers but an important minority-meaning premium pax are important to the bottom line.

Re: QANTAS Classic awards to Status Credits

There are many threads on this forum for mASA, JASA and ASA in general - let your fingers do the walking.

Yes, X fares, discount Y SC earn

The QF website has this in the 'status credits' part of the frequent flyer section

You mean waste hours of my life searching for something that someone can tell me in 5 mins ? I will note that down and pass it on next time someone asks me for help thank you :)

Shanye2233 don't get us started, you are hardly one to ever provide tips and information.

The SC earning is easily obtained on the Qantas site. go have a look, you might be surprised.

Sounds like a confused agent to me given that the mASA booking engine was separate even prior to yesterday.

Re: QANTAS Classic awards to Status Credits

Sounds like a waste of points to me

Sounds like a waste of points to me

Why do people keep looking at it solely as a "status run" opportunity?

Personally it will work for me next year as i have to book 3 x Y fares to LHR, at least I'll get SC's with this when previously I wouldn't have. It's a bonus for me. Many others book Y RTW award tickets which will also earn some points. we don't always travel in W J or F...

Considering there have been no end of 'confused' phone agents since the whole phone-for-a-mASA fiasco started, sounds to me like they have added yet another magnificent layer of 'confusion' to the whole shermozzle.

I made the comment months ago to the effect that 'sure MASAs are 'here to stay' but they will be enhanced out of useful existence.

Another point in the slow process of strangulation of mASAs.

Because some people ALWAYS look for the negative in everything

Thats why 99% of the population doesn't talk to me because I help too much .

And I will check out the QF site , thank you.

Thats why 99% of the population doesn't talk to me because I help too much . My question is simple and easy to ask . I have 400,000QF free points and I wanT to use them to the maximum

Actually it's because you DON'T help.. That's why no one will help you..

Your answer is also simple enough, the information is on the Qantas website and it won't take hours to find either.

Re: QANTAS Classic awards to Status Credits

Just putting in my 2 cents worth here, but i think this promotion does have a number of positive attributes.

Ie, if someone was looking at booking either a One way or Return Long-haul leg on Extremely expensive cash fare route that QF operates such as SYD > JNB or SYD > NRT, where a Classic award + Taxes is still far cheaper than a return cash return.

If you calculated 1 QFF = 1 Cent, on these routes + a few others, one would be struggling to buy a full cash fare cheaper even when on sale in Economy.

As Status Credits are included in this promotion than it becomes quite an attractive proposition for myself anyway as a cash fare is more expensive as ive found on these routes.

It would be great to see this promotion sucessful & extended to Business class Classic awards.

Re: QANTAS Classic awards to Status Credits

Isn't that the only thing that matters?

I've always said if you constantly need to do status runs to hold status it's a waste.

I am sure JohnK that this will be an upside with you and your regular jaunts on classic awards?
