I also received it this morning - and very glad I was to see it! I was preparing to book a J flt SYD/LAX on "another airline" for next year ... will now hold off and await developments!

LOL, I did just that yesterday with the "other airline"....but am still very pleased with the outcome as I took advantage of the 15% uplift of transferred points and the 15% off points required
Now to find a way to burn some QF points too

Yep, since this is only X class Y seats, it is very easy to curb one's enthusiasm. Guess I called it on the caveats and disclaimers comment earlier.

Sure there would always be restrictions but some read into it way too much

Lucky man to get the e-mail. Wonder if they are holding back some Classic seats able to be booked for those who don't get the email until later? 3pm and this WP hasn't received such. Yes, I know about the offer, but what of the vast majority of punters who aren't on AFF? "Aw, gee, no classics available a week either side of when I want to go." Wonder why?

You would think that they would make the booking window from, say, 1 Nov (or in any event, day of announcement + 2 days) so everyone gets the same opportunity.

Too hard for Qantas? Too complex a thought?

Any insights Red Roo on why some Qantas customers are more equal than others (and I'm not talking about Status)?

Email is a bit disingenuous. Unless someone reads the very fine print they could be easily misled into believing any award fare is eligible.

whY bother indeed - I saw this coming yesterday with some restriction. I would say this is a further step to enhancing JASA and FASA completely leaving only Y for SC earn on award seats.... How long?

Sounds like a good trial and am currently wracking my brain to determine if I want to book any Y- classics for next year. To be honest, business attracts me more :p

yeah, I have read between the lines and I would say 164 days

"Earning Status credits on eligible flights could help you reach Platinum One status where you'll get access to greater upgrade benefits, extra Award seat availability and the round-the-clock support from the Platinum One Special Service Team. Find out more about Platinum One benefits."

My email had this too, I'll need to stop doing PAYE tax if that's going to happen

A thought, does this apply to all bookings in X class, or just bookings in X class made through QFF?

What a joke. But seriously guys unless you're WP/WP1 that's the only way you would get P and J on long haul flights. Are they ever available? Red Chook sorry to disagree with you but there ain't nothing excitin' about these half baked promotions that QF does.

I can now perfectly understand why I am cynical and was wary of the word "eligible".
May not be any bad news but exciting.Hmmm.For those of us fortunate enough to fly premium cabins by choice there is nothing here.I still am not reassured that MASAs are here to stay long term.

Totally agree drron

Whilst it does indeed suck that its only Y only and for a limited time frame I am actually quite chuffed about this promo, for nothing other than the reason of "they can do it now"!

Their systems can now obviously cater for this sort of thing and we can indeed get much cooler promos in the future which may, thats just may include J and F. - YAY!

In my case the targeted e-mail "This will help you on your way to P1" was rather daft considering I would need to do 120 Classic MEL/SYD rewards to get me over the line.......
Or then again they could have looked at my forward bookings and seen that its already going to happen irrespective of what we throw at him.
