I managed to get a credit this morning under the same circumstances as reilic.

I logged in to my amex account and used the email address in the 'contact us' tab. It will take you to a page that lists several options but keep an eye out for this on the right side of the page:

What email address did you use?

Update us on how it goes with the response. Interesting to see if their approach has changed since a few days ago.

I think they did change their approach. Instead of handing them out like candies, now they want to speak to the merchant first.

Maybe this is linked with the Shop Small map being offline since early morning.

No issues at all and the response was very prompt. They've advised I will receive a credit. No proof of purchase required.

Got an unexpected discount for an Apple Store transaction. They have a very different idea to I on what's a 'small' business, but not complaining. :)

Maybe they mean small TAX PAID business - that sure captures Apple.

Timmy's kitchen tonight in Manuka. Staff always very good there, were happy to put bill across two transactions so saved $20.

Morning!

I am thinking about purchasing some JBHifi gifts cards from a merchant within the shop small promo. Can I make a separate transaction for each gift card at the same merchant on the same day and receive a shop small credit for each transaction?

One credit per card. So, using two different registered AMEX cards will be two $10 credits.

Edit: One $10 credit, per merchant, per card.

Thanks for the quick response! That's sad, was hoping for more credits :(

I should have said one credit, per merchant, per card. But you can go to 10 different merchants to receive all 10 credits.

How does Silo compare to Flute in Fyshwick?

Silo does better tart than Flute in my opinion. I love Silo's Pear and Caramel Tart, and also its Creme Brulee Tart.

Strictly comparing almond croissant, I would say it's 50-50, but I preferred the ones at Flute. The almond-flavoured custard tastes better at Flute.

I go for cake and almond croissant for Flute, and dive into all the tarts, and their cheese selections at Silo.

Btw, Silo charges 2% for AMEX.

Off topic, are you using Westfield's giftcard as a shopsmall option?

I went to a cafe in Glebe today, it's listed on the Shop Small Map but when I went to pay the bill, they don't even accept Amex

That app can't be taken as gospel. There are errors. I found a business on it that closed last year.

Not an uncommon occurrence unfortunately. The website is far from accurate. During the first Shop Small promo I had the same problem. If it isn't obvious that a retailer accepts Amex, I now check before making a purchase.

 indeed. The map/site was under maintenance most of Thursday so at least they could have fixed it ;) I sent a complaint via email so we'll see where it takes me.

In the previous promo ($5 credits?), I found a restaurant on the app that had never taken AMEX for as long as I had been going there, and that was also confirmed by the staff. To their credit, AMEX gave me a $5 credit when I brought it to their attention.

I have found this with a hairdressers last year, except they're happy to take publicity from shop small even had the shopsmall sticker on their window. Yet at checkout ' sorry we don't except amex'. Pointed to the sticker on their window and they were a bit oblivious. Reported them on the amex website within few days disappeared from the shop small website and on next visit to the hairdresser shopsmall sticker gone however amex sticker still remained.. And what ya know still don't accept amex...dodgy!
Unfortunately this is not the first time a shop has done this lol..

Went into the local Cricket shop for new gloves and a bat grip. Total came to $75. Went to pay with my Amex and was told they don't accept Amex for transactions under $100 despite them being on the Shop Small map, and having Amex and Shop Small stickers in the window.

What's the procedure to report this?

Thanks
