Sorry, one more thing. If I do book F or J then a waitlist becomes available, do I cancel the original ticket or get SQ to change the ticket? If cancel and re-book waitlist, is the only fee $30 to get your points back?

Also, if I do cancel, will the points be put back on my account immediately so I can use it to book the waitlisted flight?

Thanks

You have to wait only for 24 hrs for points to get back but they will hold the waitlisted flight for you if you call them up.

Don't DIY it as it would take 3-5 days for points to get back and by then the waitlisted flight may have expired.

Which part shouldn't I Do it myself?

So basically call them up to cancel flight and get them to hold the waitlisted flight until points are back in my account then confirm waitlist as soon as points are back in?

They will do it all for you (i.e. no DIY) once you inform them of your wish to (i) cancel the current booking(s) and (ii) take up the cleared waitlisted flight(s).

Once points are back (within 24 hrs), they will then call you up to get hold of CC details to lock in the cleared waitlisted flight(s).

Ask for the agent's name - just in case.

Awesome, thanks for all the help.

Hi Ninja-tim
my thoughts on your dilemma.
Getting back to work 7 days earlier or a return trip in suites hmmm let me think about that. What could be a better way of celebrating the marriage proposal than toasting it with Krug at 40000 ft . Or to put it another way work is work and marriage is for life, Mrs Ninja-tim will never forget ( and her friends will be so envious ) of a marriage proposal in Europe backed up by a suites trip !

On a serious note, be sure to waitlist the flights before you book the confirmed ones, you cannot waitlist without the required miles in your account. My recent experience with MR transfer was 24 hours

Enjoy your suites trip it is an amazing experience

Cheers Danger UXB

PS. oh yes if you didn't know already 3C/3D (double bed.....with inconvenient partition!)are the seats to have . If they are taken they should be able to release 2C/2D to you over the phone

Thanks for the tips.
I know, so hard to decide between work and a Europe trip flying suites:cool:. My preferred length of travel is 2 weeks, but now it looks like its going to be 20 days, good and bad in a way because I run my own small business and there is only 2 workers on at any given time (I'm one of them for most of the time) that's why I am trying to find a good balance between a long enough trip and too long away from the business. Oh well i'll just have to fix all the problems after I get back, hopefully my cover keeps it to a minimum :D

Lucky you warned me about waitlisting first. Just got to work out how many miles I need to transfer to KF now. Need to do a bit more spending on my citibank so i can transfer it all over to KF before I start digging into MR pts.

So 3C/D is the only option you can pick online out of the middle suites? Is 2C/D reserved for people with babies? Is that why it's blocked from booking?

I believe 2CD is blocked for bassinet but I'm not sure. I believe others here have had it released.
citi take a little longer than MR for transfers and as fir my recent experience with westpac..... Don't get me started

YES

Indeed if 3C/D already booked you can call KF call ctr and request 2C/D - BUT - they will probably tell you at the time these are bassinet seats and you may be requested to shift seats if subsequently reqd - mind you that would only be common manners and decency anyway - no AFF member would ever stand in the way the reqs of a mother and baby - we have all been 1 part of that combination at some time in our lives.

I don't think I've ever been a baby in suites before ;)

for my recent transfer times from respective credit cards.

Just to clarify ,although I'm sure you've got it already, transfer points to kris, then waitlist all the waitlists you intend to do, then book the flights you can get confirmations on- your kris points will then go down. Your waitlists will remain even if your kris points reach zero, but with zero points you cannot make anymore waitlist requests.

Don't forget there's always the possibility of mixed class bookings if, for example ,suites Europe to SIN is available but only J is available SIN to AUS. Check out Cruiser's posts to find out exactly how to do it and points requirement etc

Good luck

Finally booked my trip! yay! First Suites experience.

Amex MR took less than 24hrs, normally transfers over 11am.
Citibank Pts took about 36hrs.

Waitlisted a few a flights MEL-CDG SQ228 and also LHR-MEL SQ317.
Then booked SQ228 and SQ317, so ended up being a 3 week trip :D Can not wait. Booked separately and cost about $300 extra in taxes and surchages compared to return trip from CDG or LHR.

Got 3c/3d on all 380 legs and 2c/d on 777 leg home.

Now to book some hotels.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks.

p.s. do all suites get invite to TPR? if so, on a 2-3hr layover?

p.s. do all suites get invite to TPR? if so, on a 2-3hr layover?
YES - all SQ F pax get access to TPR - ask when you check in at MEL for TPR Invitations - they are a great souvenir - but they have not been handing them out in MEL lately - most others ports do indeed still hand them out.

Also check-in online but do not print boarding passes online - again the gold Suites BPs are a nice souvenir. You will get PJs and amenity kits on all 4 sectors - the female Salvatore Farragamo kits are fabulous - I swap my male ones for female ones as Cruiserette gives them to her buddies - a great gift idea.

Ninja have fun - enjoy - post report and pics - we love reports and pics.

So there's nothing of use in the male kits? I see they have teddy bears too, they look cool to have, is that for kids only?

If they don't have TPR invites at MEL, will I get them in SIN? Do I get checked in and BP for SIN-CDG in MEL or when I land in SIN?

Yes I'll be taking heaps of pictures.

So there's nothing of use in the male kits? .
No I didn't say that - its just that the female amenity kits are too good IMHO not to procure and retain as gifts - by all means take a male kit and use it.
I see they have teddy bears too, they look cool to have, is that for kids only?
Aimed at kids no doubt - if you in F ask and you shall receive.
If they don't have TPR invites at MEL, will I get them in SIN?
Maybe so / maybe not - I have asked there previously and on have been successful once but unsuccessful a number of times.
Do I get checked in and BP for SIN-CDG in MEL or when I land in SIN?
YES BPs for both sectors will be handed to you at MEL.

Just comparing the taxes for X2 SQSuites from Europe to Sydney for next year

ZRH-SYD $827
FRA-SYD $1,012
LHR-SYD $1,444

I think we might end our trip in Switzerland.

Swiss prices are pretty high in Aussie dollars.
London is always fun.
Just heaps of charges getting in/out of London.
Almost time to go and board SQ12.

We came home from ZRH-MEL this year and already have ZRH-MEL booked for 2015 - have CDG wait listed same day just waiting for Crystal to get back to work to confirm. 2 x R Saver ex ZRH generally easier to secure than CDG plenty occasions.

Taxes ex CDG >A$1,000 - 380 ex CDG then flt221 SIN-SYD req 13+hr Layover does it not?

That's correct all arrive in the morning,
If we're going to fly F then it should be suites all the way. Would be a bit if a letdown having one leg on the 777

Once we book, probably ZRH-SYD I will ring up and ask for a stopover in SIN, and leave the following evening. That will give us nearly 2 days there to lie by the pool
