Surely it is now now time to change lounge access rules

Trolley Dolly. That takes me back. I haven't heard that term since the late 70s/early 80s. Anyway, a google for a definition (Urban dictionary) came up with:

An often over-painted but nonetheless glamourous and sexy female cabin crew member on a commercial airline, so-called because they offer drinks and other refreshments from a trolley pushed down the centre aisle. Once, it was acceptable to also pinch or grope them as they passed with their trolleys but alas, no longer. Now they must use more complicated methods of picking up men that they fancy.

Otherwise known as "tarts with carts" or "flying mattresses". Were known once for offering "coffee, tea or me".

"But mammy, I've always wanted to be a trolley dolly!" "But you'll be nothing but a flying mattress!"....

CL is not achievable by any amount of flying.

Funny there I know one CL member who claims otherwise.

As far as FF go then yes it is undisputed that P1 is the top tier in QF FF.

It's a shame that Qantas don't agree with you on that point. But keep saying it, if it makes you feel better than the scum platinums.

it is a fact from talking to QF Trolley Dolly's that due to the high number of WP's on any flight when they read and note from the passenger manifests that they only look for CL and P1 these days.

Funny, this scum platinum gets welcomes from "Tolley Dolly's" all the time. Maybe you need to get a real source for such information.

What a complete and utter load of tosh. Yes I'm WP1, but the service, greetings and occasional extras I have received as a WP prove your unsubstantiated comment to be just that. But keep on believing it if it makes you feel that little bit more special.

I'd forgotten that the term originally applied to female cabin crew members! The last term I heard it being used was to describe male cabin crew members (and that usage was by a some who was male cabin crew ).

Look for them to only do what? It's certainly not to greet by name or exchange a little chit-chat because I almost always get both whether I am SG or WP.

The issue is that lounges have extremely busy periods. This week at SIN F lounge I had struggled to get a seat and waited 20 min for shower (fine as I had lots of time). I actually prefered to go to t3 food court and eat there. After 7 or 8 pm F lounge became very quiet and I could work there again. Same experience in F lounges on Friday pm at MEL, BNE etc. It is disappointing.

those of us living outside SYD/MEL don't get the F lounges at all at home base despite having equal status. That is another issue.

Come on Katie, admit it - your figure with a champagne glass looks so much better when you're standing against the bar rather than sitting down....... :p

Ahhh Anat0l, you know me well. Tough it doesn't matter about how the champagne glass make me look; if I have a glass of champgne, I am happy. I will drink champagne for any and no reason. ;)

***Except Perrier Jouet, love the bottler, don't like the taste.

Katie, I sense you have empathy with the true Madame Bollinger tradition: I drink champagne when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty. ~ Madame Lilly Bollinger :)

I find it really interesting on the forum when someone comes along and states quite emphatically their opinion but presents it as unsubstantiated fact :!:

Is that a fact?

That seems to sum up AFF for me! :p

Did you have something specific in mind?

I'll repeat what I always say on such threads:

You don't *have* to go to a lounge everytime you're at an airport.
So true. Lounges can get exremely boring. But I am lucky as I do not need to work when I am travelling.

I suspect my views and those of feper are not that dissimilar. I have no desire to see any WP benefits eroded, they have been wound back enough over the last few years...and I am only a downturn in the economy away from dropping down from P1. (Gulp!)

Let me try and explain my viewpoint.

Flying, as I have posted elsewhere many times, is an occupational hazard for me. It consumes a lot of my time every year. This year 500+ hours in the air alone and I don't know how many hours traveling to and from airports and sitting in lounges. Certainty and comfort are top of my list as the two most important things I like when traveling. I expect that my requirements and outlook may differ from those that enjoy air travel.

I do find it frustrating when I can't access WP benefits because of overcrowding, and I would like to think that QF would try to ensure P1's do get priority over those that have not reached that level. Am I being selfish and a DYKWIA. Yep you bet....but no more so than many of the WP's who post here on AFF. The vast majority of posters here seem to want to maximise the benefits granted with status....and why not?

There is an argument that P1 is not a status level in itself and it is really just WP. That maybe true but QF does "look after" it's P1's in ways that are not advertised, but do seem to be part of the offer. (If P1's post all about that here how long will it be before QF has to withdraw these non published benefits?) I don't believe there is anything wrong with an NB, PS, SG, WP, P1, or CL member seeking better benefits. I certainly do....but not at the obvious expense of others...even if an outcome may lead to that.

Let's say that QF decides to offer SG's the same access to seats on domestic flights as WP's. How will the WP's feel about that? Suddenly WP's would be competing with hundreds of thousands of extra members for seats.* Is this unfair, after all WP's fly twice as much as SG's there has to be some decent add on benefits doesn't there? As a P1 I do seek some differentiation from WP and quite frankly the double SC offers do worry me that I will not get access to some WP benefits.

Just my thoughts!! :)

* For the literal members please do not see this as a direct comparison between membership levels please view this as how people feel when they believe there benefits are being eroded or they are not receiving what they believe is a fair go. It is all about perception and feelings.

Some of the unpublished benefits can also be the staff going that little bit extra for a member.

I have had some great extra unpublished benefits but the staff also use the attitude test as well.

If you are arrogant and rude they will only give you the very basic benefits.

I have had a few J meals even when have been in whY.

Some members of the forum to me just seem extremely rude and absolute arrogant to all below there status.

Never has a truer word been spoken...

Still searching for something inspirational from some.

Hows this for a quote, "the odds of having a good flight is directly proportional to how well you treat the ground staff and cabin crew"

I really won't have time to give a proper reply to this for a few days. But I think it will be relatively easy to demonstrate that your view is rather different. I don't think that the record shows agreement with the reasonable position outlined in the rest of your post.
