The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

No you missed the point,

No, my point is my own, irrespective your point. Disagreement doesn't equal a lack of understanding. Todays Vic presser again leads with announcing how many appointments are available and have not been taken up for the next week, there is no need to wait Pfizer is available now and continues to be more or more so every day.

It is not available to everybody and everywhere. My neighbour has had his second Pfizer delayed about 2 weeks due to supply issues.

TheRealTMA posted this on another thread - but in the middle more predictions of reach 70%/80%

What the minister quite clearly has stated (and not just today but over and over for many weeks now) is that as more Pfizer gets delivered that more bookings slots get added. Delivery of Pfizer is not guaranteed in advance or smooth and so the State Hubs have to be reactive to what turns up.

So it is not that bookings have not been taken up, but rather that the bookings slots that have only just been added over the last couple of days are now available to be booked.

As Pfizer supply increases the daily volumes of booking will keep getting ramped up. But they do not add the slots until the vaccine is actually here. The Pfizer batch that was for example meant to have come two Fridays back did not arrive then.

More arrived at last and so another 40/50K of Pfizer slots were just added over the last couple of days. Now that they are here the slots are available to be booked.

PS: Note that the Minister is only talking about slots at the State Hubs, as the commonwealth administers the GPs and Pharmacists.

We have reached 30.02% of 16+ fully vaccinated.

We have reached 85.08% of 70+ with their first dose.

95+ has reached 80.1% with their first dose so every 5+ year age group 70+ has now reached 80% for the first dose. 95+ is the second age group to reach 60% for fully vaccinated.

50+ has reached 74.95% with their first dose, so when Sunday's numbers come out tomorrow that should go past 75%.

ACT fully vaccinated for 70+ has reached 70.58%

This is where a lot of the communication at state level breaks down, I think more should be done (particularly in social media) in the channels they control to highlight that you can get the jab at pharmacies and GPs, not just hubs. And I'd include the numbers in that as well - again, just having the state hub figures in the daily twitter release is a bit silly.

This full page advertisement was in the Weekend Australian. Now I do understand that Priceline Pharmacies may be accused of some self interest, but I found the tone of this ad very genuine, and a bit moving. These are the sort of sentiments I would like to see expressed by a politician of any stripe, from any level of government. I find it disturbing that it is only coming from the CEO of a medium (or maybe large?) corporation, although I say good on them. My opinion of Priceline has gone up after seeing this. I hope that other companies continue to show the sort of leadership that is lacking from the governments.

I hope they ask me about this in Beauty Tracker Red Planet Survey this month 😆

But there’s no hospitality staff shortage remember 😂

But there’s no hospitality staff shortage remember

Not in the cities there isnt.

I caught the end of that program which stated the main reasons they cant attract locals to move there is lack of suitable housing. Not to mention SA's propensity to lock border means anyone relocating may find themselves stranded unable to visit family etc.

My 35 year old son was out last night with three couples of the same age. Two of the guys said they aren’t bothered about vaccination because there is no Covid-19 here (in Perth). I was aghast and horrified! Fortunately my son gave them the spiel (less unwell, less likely to go to hospital or die, etc, and Delta will eventually come to WA again). His best friend has two kids, for goodness sake!

My point is, there are still people to convince, although I can barely believe their attitude! Keep pushing the message: vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate! NOW!

Don’t even bother… 😂 No matter what you post it’s WRONG 😂

Anyway it’s so off topic now let’s just leave some people in the alternate universe they live in!

Sunday closures, $10k sign-on bonuses: hospitality industry battles staff shortage

Finding a place to eat that’s open on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday might not be as easy as it once was in Australia’s food capital, as a major staff shortage forces hospitality owners to cut back on their trading hours.

The closure of international borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic has drained the number of chefs, wait staff, kitchen hands, venue managers and other workers the hospitality industry says it needs to keep restaurants and cafes open.

Its only a local programme for SA so unlikely to be seen interstate. The housing in this area was mentioned as being great value. Our apartment restaurant in Adelaide has closed for breakfast due to lack of staff so it is happening in this little city.

I think you'll find that news is 3 months old, not quite the same demand for hospitality staff when major cities are locked down and no one can travel.

SA is still operational and demand is great.
