Any chance of getting in the QF lounge at around 10pm or so (since they close at 11pm) if I'm departing on the 0115 CX714? Technically, its not a "same day" departure.

Last time I got in at around 7.30pm for CX714, so it's probably not a problem. However, I wouldn't recommend spending that length of time in any lounge at all.

One thing though, the cook-to-order food finish around 9pm.

Long time since I've had Seppelt Salinger but TBH (and this may be heresy to some here ) I don't mind it, as I don't mind any of the better Oz sparklers. Sure, it is not champagne (and people like what they like, and that is fair enough), but how many here would spit out Grange or Hill Of Grace simply because it is not French?

Cannot say just how keen I am to get back to SIN and check this lounge out, given the rather varied opinions about it.

Don't mind the design and some of the amenities, but no champagne, are they serious? :shock:

What was their response when you pulled them up on it?

Is all relative - the new lounge is certainly better than what was before in recent times and that's including the F side.

I felt that it is basically better than any domestic QP/JL.

However, at SIN, for WP and SG there are options - I recommend exploring them if you have time.

The EK lounge is on the way to the gates/pier that QF typically employ; not a bad place to rest a bit while making the trek to your QF fight's gate.

From my point of view this is quite a different issue. These are high quality Australian wines, and I would drink many Australian wines of all varieties ahead of French wines or other imports by personal choice, but champagne is champagne, and sparkling wine is not.

Tried the lounge last week myself.
The cook to order stuff was quite nice.
I still dont understand why almost everything in the buffet was asian based...luckily I do like alot of asian style dishes but I am sure some dont.

Think I will try the EK lounge on my next trip.

Here now and the cooked to order has changed. Pork belly in buns (not bau/pau, but mantou buns, and Singapore mee with prawns and squid.
Both excellent. And of course the creme brûlée. And that guy is still here and awesome (Wee Kai Loh???). Red roo knows who i mean. QF need to make sure he's paid to stay.

So eat Asian food in the QF Singapore lounge and then eat Asian food in the Qantas Australian lounges.

It cannot be that difficult to provide quality Western food options instead of the slop provided now.

If you don't like what they serve there, don't call it 'slop' - simply don't attend. Or perchance eat elsewhere -surely Singapore has enough places to satisfy most culinary desires ...

But I agree with JohnK on this as far as a reasonable western option should be available and sadly I would describe the Pasta dish on offer the other night as slop!. I do chose to eat elsewhere in Singapore its called the EK lounge. Now I wonder how much it costs QF every time I visit that lounge for a good feed and a glass of French Bubbles. Surely it would be cheaper for them to provide a good quality western option and some French bubbles.

I again repeat my experience of the Beefburger offered as an alternative it turned out to be bacon and egg roll accompanied by a ham and cheese roll. Not exactly what I had been waiting for.

Food options in the QF lounge is not up to scratch IMHO.

The beef burger story is amusing. Sounds like something I would expect to happen in China rather than Singapore.

QF needs to attract more Singaporean customers to make the services profitable, so Asian food offerings are an essential part of that. But as an Australian airline there should be Western options too. Pavlova in a glass anyone?

Seriously if you are based in Singapore and a frequent Flyer why on earth would you chose to fly QF when your only econimacal redemption for rewards redemption is flights to Australia? No option to fly to Europe on QF metal to utilsie upgrades and if you book with a OW airline then its as low as 25% of the points and it goes on and on. If I was based in Singapore then sorry SQ would be my airline of choice.

So to me looking logically QF needs to attract more Ozzies to fly them to Singapore and return.

For Singapore residents there is also Jetstar Asia to consider. But for most QF regulars I know who have moved their, QF has no credit card affiliations so you quickly end up with SQ anyway

I think no one is saying that the sparkling there is Champagne. It is sparkling, not Champagne. No one is saying it is Champagne, and frankly anyone who claims otherwise should be out of a job in the hospitality industry with prejudice and contempt, period.

Americans may think that anything with bubbles in it is Champagne, but that is their own ignorance and self-serving lack of respect they can wallow in.

So the point is that there is no Champagne. Whether or not this is a deal breaker for you is another thing. For me, it is not. (Or, to be more precise, I would not regard the lack of Champagne as a be-all-end-all absolute critical factor of a lounge that I'd want to be in, let alone the judgement of a good or bad lounge).

I find this extremely hard to believe.

IMO the food in the QF lounge is about the same as every other QF J lounge operated by QF in the system. (I won't start associating with the QF F Lounges, because that is not a fair comparison at all).

By extension you would argue that QF are severely (and that word is not used lightly) lackadaisical as far as providing a quality food spread in the Business Class lounges across the entire system.

If I had to rate other lounge food in the world (and even in SIN) using your standards, I hope your scale comes with a large range of negative number notches, because with QF at 0, I'd be struggling.


For those who were very much anti-QF/EK agreement, I suppose there is a silver lining in it all. It's given people more choice.

I suppose one easy option that would appease all would be to close the QF lounge and just utilise the agreement with EK and send everyone to the EK lounge. Clearly, there are many here who think the QF SIN lounge is a clear failure and waste of space.
