Cough. Invitation Only. If you have to ask, you don't qualify. :) (or so I have been told... :) )

Well EK will get you to a lot more places in First compared to the red tail that is for sure.

It will also get you some nice benefits at DXB (presumably elsewhere too), there is a thread FT with a little bit of info. So THATS what I/O looks like - FlyerTalk Forums

Except that Ili'd have thought with the new agreement EK would recognise the CL status anyway.

Hence what does IO do in terms of benefits that CL doesn't?

I assume this is EK? What will it do that CL won't?

Being based in Europe now I'd imagine it will assist me with my travel planning. I have a dedicated person I'm able to speak with regarding any issues. Not that it's a big deal but you can call collect.

Apparently my membership kit will be presented to me personally when Im in DXB at the end of the month.

I don't use luggage tags, nor carry my FF card so I don't really care about those things. The guaranteed meet and greet plus dedicated fast track immigration is of great appeal. Partner membership plus Platinum membership for 2 family members is also a nice touch.

I believe that the benefits are more tailored to you as an individual, rather than just a list of standard benefits.

Also. With all the bookings I have made. I get a telephone call and a follow up email confirming seat selection even what time I'd like to board the aircraft.

If I was living in Australia, probably not an issue. CL is great for people living in Australia. Living in London and Italy and only flying F. The benefits are not so significant. I'll still fly with QF regularly. I'd see my spend per year now though more like £200k QF and maybe £600k EK.

Mrs Blinky and I are off on our European adventure tomorrow. I've started a travel report thread which I hope I keep up (I'm not that good on follow through). Anyway, thanks for all the great hints I've got along the way guys.

Good luck and safe travels :)

Very pleased with the speed at which everything happened and nothing quite like a nice walk home in the snow at 1am! Stable now and monitoring overnight - will know in the morning the next steps, still some further hurdles to get over.

All the best Flashware. Good health is something we take for granted until something goes wrong and we realise how precarious life can be.

Thanks for updating us Flashware, all blessings to Mrs Flashware and hope she is quickly on the mend.

Only a couple of hours until we head off to MEL to catch our Etihad flight. I'm going to ask about the cost of upgrading from Business to First for the MEL-AUH leg. Because I have reward seats I wasn't eligible for the auction. Any guesses on the cost of upgrades?
