I only found that out the other day... saw an ad for the Nexus 4, thought the price was decent so went to buy one for Mrs Flashware as a treat (she currently has my old HTC Desire that I got rid of when I upgraded to the One X :D) - but then a) they didn't take AMEX b) wanted to charge 10 quid delivery! Most places over here do free delivery, so that was enough of a kick in the teeth to say "sod ya!". Impulse purchase nicely quashed by Google's poor attitude :D

I haven't even got through to the delivery charge. The Japanese supplier is charging about $70 (+$7.5 for the app) for the product plus $8 for delivery. Maybe I should brave ordering in japanese.

Is is really that difficult to run a train network?

Never had a problem with my old Hornby set....well I say I never had a problem, there was the one occasion when The Flying Scotsman derailed near the mantlepiece and that brought a complete halt to the goods service coming from the china cabinet end. Soon fixed up though!!

:p

Have you been to the Hornby Museum in Margate? Interesting place, although not as large as one might suspect.

As for Hornby (the company). they are in worlds of trouble.

Watch Thomas the tank engine. They're always having troubles on that train network and its only a small one.

Brisbane train network is actually quite reliable. Come to London and you'll soon be sick of train delays and Cancellations.

You have obviously been gone for a while. They are getting extremely bad press recently with some people experiencing delays of 1-2 hours.

I was waiting at Toowong for the 5:56pm Caboolture train at 5:53pm it dropped off the screen. Train station staff have no idea what has happened to it and calling QF Translink they have no idea either. Then the 6:11pm Bowen Hills turns up on time and at Roma St Station it changed into a Shorncliffe train.

I can almost bet you all the tea in China the Shorncliffe train was delayed somewhere so they cancel that train and start off a new Shorncliffe service that is on time. Very sneaky....

Pfft, that's nothing. City rail have managed to rip down a few hundred meters of overhead wire twice in about as many weeks. 6 hour delay to the whole north shore on Tuesday this week.

You're just copying TransPerth, medhead. They do that here in 40C heat, and then much hand wringing over the fact no one can tell why it happened occurs in the following weeks.... then it all gets swept away, until it happens again.

I don't think they even have heat as an excuse. Empty train at about 5am in both cases got tangled in the wires and both times on the North Shore. coincidence much?

Running a train network must be really hard work.

Perhaps we need to offer the job to Tony Hancock considering his good track record. :p

Just watched the Samsung Galaxy S4 unboxing event. Man it was painful (not learning about the phone, but the song and dance they put on!).

Phone looks really nice, will be getting it.

It would seem that yet again, the leaks and rumours before the event were spot on, makes the actual event a bit of an anti-climax.
