Todays hot food selection includes party pies.

As usual, in order to even get one pie, sniping tactics are required. Ah memories...

No, no, no. Not even close. Anyone can drive a car. Not everyone can play golf.

Shame you are even trying to compare the two! ;)

Having competed in motor sport for many years in the 80's & 90's, saying anyone can drive a (race) car is like saying anyone can hit a ball with a stick!

I guess if you are really bored on a Saturday night then watching F1 qualifying could be an acceptable way to pass the time.

Not really....
Lots of excitement last night, and the race tonight. A couple of great nights' TV.

(And I solved the iPad charging problem - dodgy cable)

Do you know how refreshing it is to see a lady like F1? I think it's great! :D

I missed Quali last night as I was at a 80th and it actually went pretty late. Fortuantly the good lady is away this week in BNE so I've just returned home from the grocery run, going to tidy up a bit then settle in for the race tonight. Too long between races!

With an expanded season we still have the mid season break to come. F1 should rethink that one. Two weeks is long enough between races.

We loved the F1 in Adelaide until someone knicked it!

Went through security and looked at my BP to find I was allocated 8B. The preallocation I did on the phone for row 3 last week has not stuck. Miffed, but I guess I got what I deserved (i.e. Golds shouldn't get row 3). Of course, being on a Saver, can't use my complimentary upgrade. Service desk offered 4C - good enough.
Join the VA Gold club. At least my 8A was a little better than your 8B.

:( I was waiting for hot dogs but no hot dogs even though flight delayed. Party pies would have been a perfect alternative.

No hot dogs or party pies at OOL either. :( Just soup.

Tough times indeed....

Adelaide was one of the best F1 tracks on the calendar and usually produced a fantastic race. I could never get to a race there. The final one was when I was doing my final year of high school and the exams were unfortunately more important.

Now we have this sterile "street" circuit at Melbourne, an event that the locals don't even want.

Ok. Almost anyone can drive a (race) car. I am sure I could even though I do not think I would drive it more than ~180km/h. Perhaps I can go a little faster.

I have taken a stock standard HQ Holden down Conrod straight doing ~160km/h. Yes it was possible and it was before the current changes to the track. As I was going through the Esses doing ~40km/h-60km/h one of the wheels felt like it was off the ground. Scary stuff. Those were the good old days.

And I am certain not everyone can play golf. Not even if they tried. Most people do not understand golf. Their loss....

I wonder, on a scale of 1-10, how bad it is that I ignore any messages received on race night in fear of someone offering to catch up over dinner....one of these days I might regret it!

So, you really can't drive a race car then.

Anyone can hit a golf ball. I am sure I could even though I do not think I could drive the ball more than ~100m. Perhaps a little further. ;)

I can't remember which race it was but last year was around at a mates place watching the race, havinga few beers etc. 6 laps to go and was shaping up to be good finish.

Had a knock on the door, some idiot had backed into my car (was actually the boss's car) and smashed the rear taillight etc I got her to write her details down and leave it in the letterbox (which she did) so I didn't miss out on the race.

To this day, the rear tailight is still broken...

I was fortunate enough to meet Dr Mal Hemmerling a couple of years ago and discuss F1 with him. He commented that Adelaide would be unlikely to ever get the F1 again due to the costs involved. :(

Have to agree with this, though we really wouldn't have cause to make a fuss if this were Asian Frequent Flyer. (But, it isn't).

Most people could probably try golf, though you might have to give them a handicap of 200 and a massive gimmie length on the green.

And of course, for a while you may hear slices of air and little bits of grass and dirt flying about. Plenty of calls of "fore!" and driving to the sixth green from the ninth fairway.

I must disclaim at this point that the similarity of this description to any personal experience is purely coincidental. :p

As for the "understanding" bit, well......
