Don't worry. If you don't like the weather when you visit, just wait 10 minutes.

Today: sunshine/black clouds/gales/sunshine/RAIN/sunshine/gales.

It was rather impressive to watch out the window at work. The rain before lunch was going sideways!

My insurance company is doin' my head in.

Home and contents at $1542. So I do a quote, list everything the same as best I can, with the only uncertainty being personal cover for unspecified items. But I assume that is included since I did specify items. Quote says $1133. Even if the specified/unspecified items are not included adding the premium for those items from the current insurance bill gets me to $1443.
You did not hear it from me but you will more than likely get an online discount when you first do a quote online and buy the policy and then when you start renewing policies the online discount is removed.

I shopped all four of my policies this year - after seeing my car insurance reach an unacceptable level.

We now have insurance with two new companies, and saved close to a four figure number. Fed up being taken for granted and a ride, when there's no aircraft involved.

That's more a British term... originating from the Essex region ;)

Ahh the Essex girl takes me back I used to live there :) Not noted as the sharpest knives in the drawer!

Q. Why was the Essex girl so pleased to complete a jigsaw puzzle in 18 months?
A. Because the box said "From 2 to 5 years"

What's the Australian equivalent of an Essex girl or is there not one

Some things never change... My UK expresspay enabled Amex has thus failed to work on the three credit card terminals I have tried it on.

(Interestingly ingenico is quite popular here like Australia... And like usual the firmware is not properly updated).

How do they expect it to take off? Or does amex just not care about touch technologies?

At least I don't need to go through the three step dance like Australia. The chip always works ;)

Three phone calls later I found the problem. The online quote allows me to specify items for contents but not under personal items. Specified contents are only covered in house and apply to things like expensive artwork. Personal items are covered outside of the house and obviously it costs more to insure things in that situation.

Will go down in history as one of the funniest airline adverts ever IMHO!

In Sydney, you'd have a range of potential locations depending on the girl.

The Norman is owned by the same mob as the Brekky Creek, or somehow associated. It's certainly a more pleasing set up.
The Cavill's ran both for many years, esp the Creek, but it was bought out and management changed in the late 90s or early 00s.

Another $20 /week rent increase and I am about to sign another lease in Brisbane.

Good thing there is a mistake on lease and is valid for 10 months not the usual 12 months.

Am I ever going home? Or am I stuck in 1986 indefinitely?

I found out today that a couple of days leave from my day job has been approved for September. Also, I found out that my media acceditation application for the Bigsound music showcase has been accepted.

Brisvegas in mid September, here I come!

Really peed off with Qantas at the moment.
ADL to NTL is QF to MEL then JQ to NTL which is fine BUT you need to collect your baggage and check in again. Why???
You can change between QF and CX which is a totally different airline and and not have to double handle your bags so why can't QF do it with Jets..t ???
So it looks like I might be a Virgin flyer. And it only costs $208 (bring your own cut lunch) where QF want $253.
But then I miss out on the lounge, points, SC What to do??? Aaaaaagh:evil:
