Couldn't Shoo them away?
Any bargains there? :D

Had a quick look and saw a few bargains, was thinking of putting my 4 month old 11" MacBook Air in but I doubt many would be interested!

You off to Nippon? Without consulting my notes (and even with consulting my notes), my Japanese is extremely limited, but for first-time introductions this is useful:

Hajime Mashate! Watashi-wa <insert name here>-des.

Only for first time intros, and means (approximately) "Hello, pleased to meet you, my name is <insert name>"

Enjoy your trip (assuming that is the case), Japan is a great place to visit.

It's my second time. I went for a week in 2011 at the start of my Europe trip (flew SYD - NRT - AMS). For the first couple of days, I felt like I was in a very strange place - like I was watching an anime cartoon up close.

I am returning for a week on the way back from the US in February (flying LAX - NRT - SIN - SYD) & can't wait. I might return in July/August but for longer as a standalone trip.

Looks like silly season has arrived early and in full force in Queensland this year.

Not too keen on hiring a car next weekend.

I've never even thought about having a hire car during a hail storm, that'd be awful!

This is the Queensland I remember from when I first moved here

My comment was more along the lines of why you would want to sell a 4 month old laptop.

An impulse purchase I regret now, love the battery life etc but my iPad does all that I need 99% of the time, and must admit I hate not having a page up page down option. Spent too much time in Wintel land.

Well I was panicking last Sunday.

I guess it would be classed as a single vehicle accident and you would get charged the $3,500 excess + $2,000 excess for single vehicle. I think travel insurance covers $4,000 so leaves a huge gap out of pocket.

I bought my 11" last month (to replace my 13" MBP) and find it is a great adjunct to the iPad mini. TBH I don't miss the 'PgUp/PgDn' buttons.

Skipped summer and back to winter in Sydney?

We had our summer in spring.

My wireless modem & foxtel iq box were fried in last night's Sydney storm.
Replacements will take a couple of days and an earful of phone on hold Muzak.

It is a joke how hail damage is the hirers fault.

I remember seeing $5,500 cover on rental car insurance excess somewhere. QBE policy? Avis and Hertz want ~$33/day to reduce excess to $500.
