Alarm goes off at 03:30 every day, showered, fed and on my way to work at 04:30. Work 13.5 hours a day, then bus home. All up its a 15 hour day excluding meals and showes etc.

10:00 start would seem alien to me.

Occasionally you have a little win. I went to fill up with fuel recently. Took the nozzle off the pump and the display closed down then read something like 'price adjustment'. After 30 seconds or so it let me start to refuel my car and I noticed the price had dropped by 1c per litre.

You may start at 1000, but you don't leave at 1500, except maybe some fridays.
Oh I somehow misread that reference to bankers hours in your earlier post.

IT Managers got an early taste of my humour when I was 23. I had been at the place for ~12 months when part of the business was sold and most of the System38 (presursor to AS400/iSeries) team went. I was the only one left. There was a PC/Unix team of 4 at another site so they moved over to our site and the leader was made IT Manager.

I used to start work around 10:00am-11:00am in those days but hardly ever left before 8:00pm. The Unix team used to start at 8:30am and leave at 4:30pm. Got to love those days of 36.25 hours/week. Anyway the new IT Manager wanted to have a serious chat with me one day. He wanted me to start at 8:30am along with the Unix team. I agreed with him but I also mentioned that I will be leaving at 4:30pm on the dot every day. Needless to say my starting time was never questioned again. ;)

In Queensland? I think it is 10 years and that is a long way away.

Standard in most awards is that you get paid long service leave pro-rata after 8 years if you leave. You can't take the leave between 8 and 10 years but it is in your payout when leaving.

It's been after 7 years in all my awards/conditions of employment, and some have had allowances for using it before 10 years.

All states vary with LSL most are pro rata after 7 years if you leave employment. In QLD you won't get pro rata if you just resign. There are certain conditions. There is an exception to pro rata and that is people in the Vehicle Industry who's employers are covered by the MTA don't get pro rata till 10 years

Maybe I'm thinking of 8 years for using it. Or the places I've worked have been more restrictive than normal.

What do you mean by leave employment? Retrenched? I thought after 5 years you were entitled to long service leave if you are retrenched.

If my sanity can last another 4 years I could reconsider my decision to leave next year....

A surprising number of people do fall for that ****.

I was on some email list that I don't recall ever signing up for and I got offers of matching me to the tune of several hundreds of dollars should I sign up and then guaranteed wins even if I lose blah blah blah

Fortunately it is on a throw away email address and I threw it away lol

Unfortunately this is my real email address so I cannot throw it away.

Funnily enough my throw away email addresses don't receive spam!
