Something I read earlier today-

I for one certainly believe her story...... she was just economical with the truth neglecting to mention what she was doing whilst watching the movie

does the ferry still leave from Weymouth to Jersey?

We are flying to Jersey this time (June 18) from Southampton

ATM, yeh. It bounces back and forth depending on how the council is feeling on any given time ;)

I'll add to it. Tonight was a classic roast shoulder of pork, seasoned simply with salt, pepper, rosemary and seeded mustard; the skin scored, rubbed with olive oil and salted. Low shelf, blast to start the crackling off and then cooked to internal temperature 70 degrees Celcius and rested generously. Sides of jacket potatoes, roast carrots, roast onions and rocket salad. Sauce of red wine and pan juices in gravy stock.

Vegetable goulash for lunch for me and then vegetarian lasagne for dinner (caught up with 2 sets of friends down in Dorset yesterday). No meat to add for the day unfortunately! Mrs Flashback is a vegetarian, obviously!

Having been offered similar before I agree reject in most circumstances.
However 150 pax? WTF! Qantas really is having huge problems.
Yes off topic , but I hope they have a super cheap sale to Australia soon ;)

Well, I got my recent QF fares for just over 400 quid return - decent enough sale ;)

Vegetarian lasagne can be pretty delicious! I like it with eggplant, which is definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

You'll have to tell me about the veggie goulash.... sounds yum.

Have to admit not the biggest potato fan. That'd probably put me in the bad books of an Irish lad or lass.

Our local Japanese restaurant does a delicious grilled eggplant with sweet miso paste. Before tasting this mrsdrron just wouldn't have eggplant. Now we always have it when going there.

Eggplant is gorgeous.

My favourite? Fried crumbed eggplant that mum makes. Even better when the eggplant is grown at home.

Another favourite is a kind of pickled eggplant stuffed with carrots, celery, capsicum, parsley etc. Can also do this with capsicum. Yum.

Or eggplant stuffed with various chopped vegetables in the oven.

Who needs restaurant food? I have been spoiled badly at home. Thanks mum.

Mrs Flashback rather enjoyed it too - so we now have the recipe as well, will e-mail over a copy if I can find it.

You also wouldn't be surprised to hear that the first thing planted in our veggie patch was potatoes

I thought eggplant was endemic in Greek cuisine.

Agree that you are spoilt by your mum. I was fully fledged at age 22.

Any chance of your mum setting up a Greek restaurant?
In Melbourne Greek restaurants seem to all have the same menu, and heaven help you if you don't want to eat meat.

You've got mail.

Oops, temporary fix to the condenser of new airconditioner has failed (well, it was only silver tape across the seals that should have had sealant applied when installed, but a total lack of attention to detail there).

The maintenance guy was meant to return with the sealant, but never showed. Looks like he'll show tomorrow after we fired off a choicely worded email to the building manager. :D

Lucky we were still here so the water didn't cause damage to the carpets.

Time to turn off the lights and go home.

I hope all repair work is considered a defect by the installer and therefore free!

Mum and dad should have gone into the restaurant business years ago.

We dont eat meat all the time. Mum is very strict in observing fasting days and will cook accordingly

- Lentil soup
- Bean soup with dark green cabbage. Some people may refer to this as Chinese cabbage. It is the type that does not wrap around
- Vegetarian casserole type dishes predominantly with capsicum, eggplant, potatoes etc
- Leek with rice, spinach with rice, cabbage and rice
- Spinach pies, cheese pies in various shapes and sizes
- Koulouria in various shapes and sizes (greek cookies is the closest translation)
- pasta and instead of making some sort of meat sauce she makes a sauce with 4 bean mix and some other vegetables
- Boiled potato, mashed and then fried with chopped onion (one of my all time favourites and one I have tried to reproduce many times without success)

What am I doing in Brisbane? I should go back home to Sydney where I belong. :(

Chicago derailment 24032014.jpg

Train derailment at ORD station early Monday morning US time. I was there a few weeks ago. This can't be good - around 30 people injured.

I somehow fell out of the nest at 44. Mum and dad have been hoping I will come back soon.

Hopefully that is not that far away. All I need is a job in Sydney.
