Now, the only anecdote for a zany scheme...is an even zanier scheme!

Just took advantage of the ex-MEL sale (thanks Sunstar320!) that ends tomorrow to book another SC run - ADL-MEL-ASP-MEL-ADL-CBR-SYD-ADL - into my spare day on my May "holiday". $4.09 - $4.33 / SC, inc. c/c charge; the two values depend on whether ADL-CBR is considered to be 10 SC or 15 SC (GCM gives ADL-CBR as 602 - 605 mi; so apparently just skirts into the 15 SC zone).

I was toying with squeezing more into the run via ADL-MEL-ASP-MEL-ADL-SYD-CBR-SYD-ADL, except that reduces the transfer time between MEL-ADL and ADL-SYD to 30 minutes - probably too close to call, especially since I will have checked luggage.

This will be the first time travelling to ASP. It's only a 40 minute transit, so hopefully enough time to go landside, take some photos, sample the lounge then reboard to complete the round-trip. I was thinking about MEL-ASP-ADL, but the economics aren't as good as this SC run I've booked. (ADL-ASP markets as direct and indirect via MEL routing.)

Oddly enough, I have to overnight in CBR (probably will just taxi to city and party on - ~2200h arrival and ~0645h next morning) and once I arrive in ADL I have 40 minutes to make my previously booked ADL-MEL flight. It's not too bad if I miss the ADL-MEL (provided QF reaccommodate me for no charge :-|), as I just booked "early" so I could take advantage of getting all the BPs and thus getting the most MEL F Lounge time. :)

But trooper thought he was mad, check out my ba97 record for 22/05 - 01/06 and tell me that isn't mad....:D

Don't know which CBR and SYD you plugged into your calculator, but it's actually less than 150miles.

Overall looks to be a nice run. Was thinking of joining you, but I already am supposed to have plans on that weekend, and although they aren't confirmed, the friend involved would be upset if I said I couldn't make it!

Sorry, I screwed up royal on that . It should be ADL and CBR. I've edited the post accordingly.

The run is during the week, so that might be a problem. (Both ex-ADL runs are - the run on the weekend is AKL-SYD-SIN and back).

Aaah, I was thinking Labour Day long weekend ... never mind!

The Qantas calculator indicates 605 miles for ADL-CBR (and 15 sc's), so I think you should get the 15.

Cool. Then the rate is just over $4/SC including the c/c charge. :)

Doesn't beat a YUPP run, but right now finding a good one of those is as rare as hen's teeth, plus the positioning flights (notwithstanding the recent Transpac sales fares) have to be factored in.

Now if QF NZ could have another domestic sale for end of May, I could squeeze a possible AKL/CHC or AKL/ZQN return flight for my own farewell to QF NZ......
