I'll join you, can I still book it for a decent price?

Sale prices are here, ends 20 Apr (assumed 2359h AEST)! (FWIW I received my itinerary at 20/04/2009 0035h BNE time, so the sale fares must still be active until 20/04/2009 2359h). Some of the fares I booked were 'Hurry!' fares, too.

Don't worry :) The redness in my eyes is decreasing quite a fair bit! And I'm on the way to recovery! Offline again :(

I can't get away from this site but ftw eyes are coming along Ok. Well I am @ work using the computer anyway so browsing AFF won't hurt ;)

Anyway, thought I'd mention that QF11 on 29/4 shows D9, J9 but CMT shows only 8 out of 72 J seats being unallocated. A0 and R6 btw.

I would suggest that Qantas may be considering selling some of those First class seats for J fares.

Silly xONExs :P

A silly time waster, but just read in the oneworld rules for xONEx tickets that a minimum of 3 segments is required (maximum 16) to ticket a xONEx.

So here's the silly question - what is the longest (in distance) xONE3, xONE4, xONE5 and xONE6 that can be constructed with the least number of segments? :p Note: they don't have to start in AU...

If you're really in the zone, same question but the shortest (in distance)?

xONE3 - ORD-DEL-HKG-ORD - 17,608 mi according to GCM
xONE4 - LAX-MEL-LHR-LAX - 23,880 mi according to GCM
xONE5 - SYD-SCL-LAX-LHR-SYD - 28,658 mi according to GCM
xONE6 - SYD-SCL-LAX-LHR-JNB-LHR-SYD - 39,900 mi according to GCM (can this be done with 5 segs?)

xONE3 - ORD-DEL-LHR-ORD - 15,627 mi according to GCM
xONE4 - LAX-MEL-LHR-LAX - 23,880 mi according to GCM

Two things here:
  • ORD-DEL-LHR-ORD xONE3: according to MM ORD-DEL doesn't cross the Pacific; the oneworld map seems to "confirm" this and traces the GC path crossing the Atlantic (then over Europe and the Middle East), and the xONEx rules seem to suggest that the sector is Trans-Atlantic. MM might be wrong, though...
  • LAX-MEL-LHR-LAX xONE4: So it seems that MEL-LHR, although ticketed exactly as that with only 1 sector consumed, must travel via Asia so that makes it a xONE4 rather than an xONE3, right?

If you only transit through a continent does this count as part of the continent allowance?

xONE4 - SYD-LHR-EZE-SYD - 24,803 miles according to GCM

You can't fly to/from Southern Hemisphere (Australia or South America) on a xONE3. Minimum of a xONE4.

  • That's correct.

Managed to get a row of 4 seats in Y on my sfo-syd flight Sunday.. I could see people like those meerkats trying to steal some.

I managed to get the armrests up, pillows and blankets out as soon as we were taking off. At soon as the 'ding' came on at 1800ft the feet went out and blanket over me.

I kept my row of 4 the whole way - thanks to the tips from the more experienced in this thread. It's a nice feeling!

Forgive for a silly question, but when you're doing a DONE4 routing and trying to find 2 class AA domestic routes (so you can book into A), how do you know which routes are 2 class and which are 3 class aircraft?

Check availability -(e.g. Seat Counter)

2 class have F(A) and Y(L) - no J(D)

3 Class have F(A), J(D) and Y(L)

Note this applies for solely domestic USA routes. e.g. LAX-HNL. International 2 class routes (e.g. DFW-YVR) have J and Y only, no F.

Nonstop transatlanticTravel on AA between DEL and ORD is permitted.
For travel ex South America/South West Pacific – when this service is utilised a minimum of a 4
Continent Fare must be charged.
For travel ex North America/Asia – when this service is utilised a minimum of a 3 continent fare must
be charged.
Interesting critter this ORD/DEL - is it considered your European stop? If so, then back to LHR may be backtracking between continents.

I now receive AFF ad-free thanks to my employer (well, my employer's client !) now seeming to block all the ads that are on it. Site loads up much quicker!

Not sure about the look of the new website. It will take a while to get used to the new design.

So much for the GFC(Global Financial Crisis) why was the Sydney Qantas F class lounge so full yesterday.

And another question what is the furthest you have rung someone to get instructions or suggestions on how to cook something. My flatmate just phoned her mum in the UK to get instructions on how to cook a roast. I hope it tastes good.

How hard could it be to cook a roast*. Hell, they could have tried to call me.

Some of those prepacked/preseasoned roast dealies in the supermarket come with instructions, too.

* OK, there are some more specialty roasts I know that I can't prepare (or at least well)...
