Haven't found such a replacement for taxi companies so far, they're all 13s. :(

According to this site:

Non-Geographical Search

13CABS is 03 92773700 if you're in MEL (which I believe you are, QF009)

I've been using PennyTel, BTW, for my VoIP for the last 2-3 years. 8c untimed: local, STD, and UK landlines. Lots of other countries are included in the 8c untimed list as well.

Thanks for the link! Never knew there was such a site. :D

Public Holiday here in WA today..
Should have been a public holiday all over Australia. Stupid ruling if Anzac Day falls on weekend then no public holiday on Friday or Monday.... :-|

Seek and you shall find. Which taxi companies numbers do you want?

If a public holiday falls on what is already a day off then there should be no replacement :!:

So, let us look at some other Victoria examples.

In 2010, Anzac Day falls on a Sunday, and there will be a holiday on the Monday

In 2011, Anzac Day is on Monday 25, but so is Easter Monday, so Anzac Day will also be on 26 April

Christmas
In Victoria this year, Boxing Day is listed as Saturday 26 December and Monday 28 November.

In 2010, Christmas is Saturday 25 December and Boxing Day is Sunday 26 December, with the two repeating again on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28.

New Years Day
In 2011, New Years Day is on Saturday 1 January and Monday 3 January

So Victoria isn't even consistent with itself

Or if you work for some large multi nationals they just make up their own versions and use them.

Often websites are useful places to check for direct numbers - look for a "calling from interstate or overseas" number.

For example in Sydney:

Taxis Combined - Contact Us - 13 3300, but you can use (02) 8332 8888
Silver Service Taxis - Contact Us - 13 3100, but you can use (02) 9020 9966.

And QANTAS:
Fly - The Qantas Club - Qantas Club Contacts - 13 1131, but you can use (03) 9658 5302 equally as well. (I note it's not the WP number, but you get the idea)

They're just a few examples.

Finally finished my PhD confirmation of candidature document today. PDF'ed it, then sent all 4MB and 101 pages off to the review panel. The PG Coordinator emailed me back and said he wants a double-sided print copy tomorrow morning

That's the hard part done. The oral presentation is this Friday. :-|

How hard could it be to cook a roast*. Hell, they could have tried to call me.

* OK, there are some more specialty roasts I know that I can't prepare (or at least well)...

Google knows the answer to everything...

Good luck on Friday. My oral exams in Anaesthetics are on in just over 4 weeks now in Melbourne. These are challenging, as your defence will be as well.

I hope we all get through!

Thanks for your well wishes, and good luck to you too. Having seen my sister complete dentistry and have oral exams (they called them something else) every semester, I think I'm glad in some part that I didn't do something in the medical field. Bad enough that I can't memorise a whole book on anatomy.

Hopefully preparing for the oral will be less painful than preparing the confirmation document (which included a ridiculously large literature review - and even when I submitted it, really only because I was just "cutting my losses", there were still some omissions and more critical judgement missing. Argh!)

I was reading the April Qantas magazine over the weekend and noticed the article that skyring must have written.

Anyone got a link to the Qantas Magazine website.

The Qantas magazine didn't have the article and only provided a link; I just can't remember what it was and I am too lazy to search for it, easier just to ask here. :p
