Ripper thunderstorm in Melbourne just now - although it might be over quite quickly it was quite tropical in spectacularity (?)

humidity and rain pulled in from the north.

Lighting strikes have taken out signals, so no trips via the loop this morning.

Not much rain here, but certainly it is starting to get very cold here when there is no sun out. It's very much different to Brisbane in that the humidity is still up and yet it is cold, so sometimes the cold hits you like a loaded front, a bit like opening a cold fridge.

The days are also starting to get quite short. Sunrise is not until about 8am now. The sun used to set around 8pm at least when I arrived here; no more.

MEL had a ban on ground crew accessing the tarmac this morning due to lightning - so quite a few delays.

I am nearly to my office 105 minutes after leaving home during a brief gap in the rain - many have fared worse.

The sandrinham train line has been suspended due to flooding.

Is clearing now ....

Yep, clocks went back today (very helpful for my early wake up this morning!), so it's really grim now till Dec 22nd.... Then we start the roll back to shorter days again ;)

Coming up to T-12 on my domestic QF flight tomorrow in J.

I wonder if I'll get my meal choice?]

They will probably only load 1 meal and make a guess as to what you would choose.:p:lol:;)

What are the crew going to eat? :p

Usually they would load 1 of everything and you get a choice, then the crew eat the rest.

This case is a good example of where the seatmap doesn't necessarily reflect occupancy... Although given the weather, there may have been other factors at play.

Interesting when your waitress comes out to advice that they've run out of the wine you're drinking, and the meals you've ordered.

The J cabin ended up being full. My shadow (and most of the rest of the cabin I gathered) was staff. I was given preferential selection. So it all was fine - um service wise!

A friend of mine wants to know if they use face recognition software in NSW speed cameras.

And he also has an ethical question for the civil libertarians. If they don't have face recognition is it wrong to nominate a person who doesn't drive often as the culprit?

My friend would greatly appreciate any advice.

A certain 'prominent' judge in NSW spent time in prison for just that IIRC. It's a serious offence, whether facial recognition is used or not. Unless your friend wants to make some very new, and possibly intimate, friends it would not seem worth the risk to me.

I completely agree with this. Would not think it remotely worth the risk of getting caught.

He is not sure who was driving at the time. That's why he wants to know if they use facial recognition or not.
