Had a great moment today. My new car has clicked over 747 kilometres. Needless to say my wife did not see the need to pull over and take a photo. 01437292272.jpg

If you are an "only" child, one would assume that both or either of your parents remarried but into established families. Because even half siblings would mean your "only" child status wouldn't apply anymore ?
Foster kids or adopted kids?

Eh? I'm a rose between thorns.

While it does mean split screening your browser on the PC so you can cut & paste the address and other details into each person's BAEC application - can you really pass up the possible 20 short haul international flights with the points?

I would try get a status match by BA given how 'happy' they are with Q these days.

Don't give up quite so quickly.

Changing the FF number on the 'manage your booking' only requires 1 entry and 3 C&Ps. Or if you are even better organised and have each person's different FF m'ship numbers in a spread sheet/word file then it's just 4 C&Ps.

How could you sully your AFF reputation like that!

Go stand in the corner!

BTW - it looks like you earn Avios points on flight redemptions as well unless I've misread the screen.

Always had the opinion you had to checkin to garner the status benefits ... didn't know you could (self) amend a booking after checkin...

20 short haul Int award flights for a €1111 spend ... sounds like a great deal - is it true?

I'm not sure what RAM is going on about either. And to clarify, no, you will not earn Avios points on flight redemptions.

Only way I can see the logic is like this...

A short haul International award flight (heck, any short haul flight) is 4000 Avios. This is a zone 1 Economy redemption in off peak (peak and off peak were introduced after the latest BA round of changes), one-way.

Now 20 of these... 5 for each of your mob (since there are four of you). That means 5 x 4000 = 20,000 Avios.

Based on your four flights - LIN-xLHR-BGO and OSL-xLHR-ORY - obviously that's not enough to earn 20,000 Avios. In fact, for those four flights if credited to BA, you would earn:
  • Cheapest Economy: 616 Avios, 20 Tier Points as a Blue; 3080 Avios, 20 Tier Points as a Gold.
  • Full Fare Economy: 2461 Avios, 80 Tier Points as a Blue; 4924 Avios, 80 Tier Points as a Gold.
As you can see, if you were a BA Gold and bought the most flexible tickets for your four flights, you'd have enough for a short haul redemption (in fact, it would even be enough for the same zone 1 redemption in peak periods).

If you were to fly SYD/LHR return trip on BA and credit it to BA, you would earn (assume no splitting in Singapore):
  • Cheapest Economy: 5282 Avios and 60 Tier Points as a Blue; 26,410 Avios and 60 Tier Points as a Gold.
  • Full Fare Economy: 21,130 Avios and 240 Tier Points as a Blue; 42,260 Avios and 240 Tier Points as a Gold.

You do not earn any Avios or Tier Points on Avios redemptions.

With your mob of four, I'd be a bit concerned about lounge access to BA lounges. They are extremely strict about children guesting, whether they are simply under a certain age (I think 12 is normally the cut point), or even infants. If you don't have enough status members or class of service to get them in, you're likely to be refused.

Mick Fanning is one very very lucky surfer to survive a shark attack unscathed - plus it was caught on live TV

An amazing video to watch as that fin steams in!

Will be interesting to see how he reacts at the next comp.

I loved the reaction of the commentator when he realised their was a shark.

Love the comment "to let Fanning catch his breath", as though he was just going to get straight back in the water

Does anyone know what Google Play Services is on their Samsung? Does it check the internet for updates to apps?

Silly thing has used 70MB of my data allowance already and still 4 days to go in month. It must be checking for updates very regularly. Is there an easier way?

Sure does - I have mine set to NOT auto download, just advise and then do any updates I wish when using wifi.
I've got that setting on mine as well but it's still managed to chew ~70MB of my 1GB allowance for the month.

Is your plan priced per kB or in 1mB increments? My old plan used to be in the 1mB and it was horrible. I'm now on 3GB/mnth charged per kB use it regularly whilst commuting to read articles, check emails (no videos or streaming music however). Even tethering to my laptop for work a few ays per month and I don't get anywhere close to 3GB.

This is the data that's included with phone contract. I have allowance of 1GB a month and anything over is 20c/MB. I know it's not a lot but one needs to be careful.

I have been turning off data most of the time the past few days in case something is happening without my knowledge.

Mine is not set to autodownload updates, but it still seems to use quite a bit!

When international roaming data packs are being sold from 10 MB blocks here, that's a big deal. (Of course, hopefully the roaming integration in Europe can hurry up across all mobile plans, including prepaid).

I guess 70 MB in, say, even a 500 MB plan "doesn't seem like much", but still...

Who's your carrier? data charging policies are usually by carrier not by plan. In Android, it is possible, app by app to restrict data usage to Wifi only.

A part of the email I got from VA a day after I flew them MCY-MEL.It also was my 5th VA flight this year when I normally average 4 per year.Though I would never spend $550 with them-

I got a similar email some time ago.

Fair enough, I guess, but I really could not use it.

No problems ... mama and papa have that covered.
