Got an e-mails this morning, from a guy I can't remember ever meeting, but it began: You are on this listbecause we interacted in some way over the last 10 years

It wasn't spam, but a note from this guy who was letting everyone he had met and gotten an e-mail address from, in the past 10 years, that he had changed jobs.

So, sure enough, there are about 400 e-mail addresses in the To: field!

I love getting those on my phone - NOT! By the time you scroll down thousands of people in the To: field you can't be bothered with the message.

Havent these people heard of BCC? I dont like my email address being sent to a million strangers...

Some rely on Drs Google and Wiki:shock:
There are so many things that can go wrong with me, I'd be running off to see doctor every day. Don't want to do that and my GP has a rule in place can only discuss one ailment for each short 10 minute appointment. Who knows if one can book the longer appointments at short notice.

For me Dr Google helps a lot to confirm what I think is wrong. Not saying it is perfect but can save time.

Oh and I have been able to help the wife with some of her symptoms.

Good grief - frequently 'ailments' can be related to the one condition. But unless you get the full picture how on earth does he/she diagnose.

The last company that sent such an email to me received an immediate stern email, clearly copied to the marketing section and the most appropriate manager I could find. To say that I was infuriated with their absolute lack of respect for appropriate procedures related to sending list emails would be putting it very, very politely and I did not hold back in informing them of their incompetence. A legal threat may have been implied.

A very swift public and personal apology was sent out within 24 hours. It doesn't really undo any damage as such, as it is relying on the integrity of all people on the list not to maliciously take advantage of all those email addresses.

I guess you can't say I have a headache and a sore knee type of situation in the short 10 minute appointment slot. He does fully bulk bill so good in that respect.

Doctor is ok for existing patients. New patients would need an extended 30 minute or more appointment.

I received one recently from a supplier with all the customer email addressess visible and did contemplate letting them know...

Drink standing up. Alcohol can't settle.

I once had a drink with Islamic officers of the Indonesian Army at RAEME Bandiana. They were putting away the demon in great style. When I questioned them about this they replied that they convinced themselves that when the liquid passed their lips it turned to water and therefore was not a sin in the eyes of Islam. They drank a lot of "water". I have never had a hangover since.

In a very strict Muslim state in the south of India, even the hotel wouldn't sell alcohol and it was quite upmarket. There happened to be some kind of wedding feast on while we were there and we noted many men smuggling in bottles in brown paper bags. Apparently the paper bags removed the alcohol content.

A friend swears that a strawberry in the champagne glass takes away all the nasties.

Not wanting to be a germ phobe - but doesn't that actually risk contamination the same way lemon rind can be "dirty"?

I like to live dangerously. Besides, alcohol is a disinfectant isn't it? :)

In any case - If the Champagne is good enough - you don't need to contaminate it with any of this garbage strawberries or paper bags...

If it's a coughpy lounge my favourite trick is a bit of OJ in the cheap sparkling to make a Mimosa ;)

One of my favourite NYC memories is "bottomless brunch".

You go to one of these places on the Lower East Side and pay about $15-20 USD for some kind of eggs on toast variant (e.g. cooked cafe style breakfast). Your meal is accompanied by bottomless Mimosas, Screwdrivers, Bloody Marys and Coffee.

I think most places have a time cap of a few hours now. Mind you, after drinking that much low quality booze, you probably ought to stop anyway.

Last time it made for quite a "buzzed" experience at MOMA.

So if I put my bottle of white wine in a paper bag and call it water = I wont get a hangover ???????????
Because you don't know what you're drinking it cannot affect you that way....
